The Horror Thread: Talk all things macabre

No, much worse. I know he likes putting comedic elements into his horror films, but it would usually fit the scene, or at least not break the tension. In this it was border line slap stick. Combined with the minimal gore there wasn’t much left to be enjoyed, except maybe wanting to fuck the lead actress. I googled her when I got home for nudes, but nothing, so even that was a waste.

Oh yeah, they did play the trailers for Witch and also for Krampus. Not sure about Witch, but it looked interesting. Krampus just looks like dumb fun, I’ll be checking that out when it hits.

I can’t wait to see Witch. The trailer looks creepy as hell.

I also wish Goodnight Mommy was playing within 1000 miles of me.

Anyone watch Dark was the night?
The reviews are pretty brutal but no horror movie is ever reviewed well.

That Camp Sleepaway Game or whatever got retitled (appropriately) as a Jason game, and pushed back a year so they can work on it some more.

So they have 30 days to raise an additional 500k, not looking good.

you realize they raised like 1/2 that in one day, right?

Rewatched Curse of Chucky, still holds up well. Weird their hasn’t been news of a sequel yet.

Want to rewatch the third again, only seen it once. I know it is pretty meh but chucky trolling kids with live ammunition and grenades is funny. Funnier than Bride and Seed for sure.

The initial surge is always the biggest amount sure, but half a million in less than a month is quite a bit. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love for this to happen, I’m just not getting my hopes too high is all.

I liked Child’s Play 3 it’s pretty fun, 2 is the best though imo. Still need to get round to watching Curse heard it was pretty decent and yeah there’s a sequel coming.

Watched Tales of Halloween tonight.

Pretty good. More good segments than bad, I think.
Really has that Halloween feel to it in the same way Trick R Treat does.

Definitely worth a watch.

Curse was soooo good. I loved how it tied in the original and reconned Bride.

Tonight some random channel had The Sleepsway Camp Trilogy on so I watched it. <3 it was kind of my gate way horror movie. I always knew about child’s play, nightmare or elm street and Friday the 13th but I was so afraid of them as a kid but I managed to watch the 1st Sleepaway camp by myself when I was around 12 I think? After watching it other horror movies never really bothered me.

I still dont understand the hate for Exorcist III, maybe part 2 just made people skip part 3, its still a good movie though.

Watched hellraiser last night with my gf who had never seen it. I forgot how awesome that scene is where frank is first coming back to life and rising out of the floor. Practical effects at their finest.

All the 70s and 80s horror movies had some of the best effects, and didnt have to use CGI

The transformation in American Werewolf in London is still one of the best ever.

What are some good recommendations for scary movies? Like, truly terrifying that makes it hard to sleep at night scary? I like the campy stuff, too. But I want to watch something that scares the shit out of me. Right now, the scariest modern horror movie I can think of in terms of sheer terror is The Conjuring. The children acting in it is what makes it so effective.

I really dont care for 90s horror movies, the only 2 horror movies I liked were the silence of the lambs, and jacob’s ladder.

What im going to watch again for halloween
Exorcist III
phantasm
alien
thing
suspiria
the stuff
day of the dead

I need to check out Suspiria and Phantasm.

Ya i dont know any good horror movies from 2000-till now that have nothing but CGI jump scares and just people being tortured.

Not perfect by any means, but High Tension and The Dead are two post 2000 movies that come to mind worth checking out.

I might check them out, the only new horror movie I liked was 28 days later, it had a pretty good story, and it was the 1st time I saw zombies run at full speed, and not walking.

I just got bored of all the new horror movies, they just make a CGI monster then base the whole movie around it. Or just make a movie about torturing people.
