The Ward was pretty interesting. It’s definitely not Carpenter’s strongest film (The Thing…), but it damn sure isn’t Ghost Of Mars tier. The scares were fairly standard abloogey woogey woo affair, and there wasn’t much gore (didn’t need it). There really weren’t to many clues as to what the twist was, which is my primary negative with the film. I enjoyed it for what it was.<br><br>The Girl Next Door. I…er…yea. This movie is fucked up for certain. I can only imagine that the director could have gone a lot further than they did, considering what this was based off of. I appreciate the restraint that was shown. Never-the-less, this film excels in taking a hold of you and oppressing the living fuck out you, leaving you saddened and shaking your head. The villain in this is one of the most evil bastards to grace a movie. <br><br><br>
Watched Mulholland Drive with a friend her first time my like 5th or 6th. It’s still one of the creepiest films I’ve ever seen, my friend who gets scared by anything was pretty freaked out during a few parts. man it’s so GDLK even though no one fully understands it lol.
Ward was just ok, if it didn’t have John Carpenter’s name plastered all over it maybe, MAYBE I would have liked it better. But from him I expect more and I don’t feel wrong for going into it with that mindset.<div><br></div><div>I was on an ALIEN binge preparing for Aliens: Colonial Marines…which I didn’t get cause it sucked monkey balls so yeah. But I watched Alien Rifftrax version, Alien 3 and Resurrection Special Edition, AvP (Why the fuck did I do this to myself), AvPR Unrated and read some Alien comics.</div><div><br></div><div>I was saving Aliens Special Edition for the eve of the game but now watching it would just you know, depress me.</div><div><br></div><div>Think I will watch [REC.} 3 and ABC’s of Death this week.</div>
I had mixed feelings of the Alien movies. Personally, I found them all really boring. To add fuel to the fire, I found AVP to be slightly interesting but AVP Requiem to be utter garbage.<div><br></div><div>Right now, I’m re-watching the Brothers’ Quay stuff. Good stuff</div>
Just saw a horror anthology “The Theater Bizarre”, I can say I enjoyed it more than VHS.<div><br></div><div>There were 6 stories and I dug almost all of them. There were good gore, twists, metaphors etc…</div><div><br><div>There’s even a Tom Savini directed/acted section.</div><div><br></div><div>IMO One of the better horror anthologies out there… its only 4.8/10 on IMDB though… Maybe due to its duration, its kinda long, might feel like its a bit draggy…</div></div><div><br></div><div>So yeah, I’m not really good at writing reviews but I’d say its worth checking out if you like horror anthologies…</div><div><br></div><div>edit: I also dig the atmosphere, the whole doll thing never fails to creep me out too… Movie managed to creep me out a little too…</div>
Best horror of 2012:<div><br></div><div>Excision and ABC’s of Death. Excision is similar to May in some ways but it’s a very well made psychological horror dark comedy. ABC’s of Death is a little hit and miss but it’s a fun flick to drink beer while watching and it’s something different which earns it some points. </div>
What no Cabin in the Woods? Probably the best Theatrical Horror film released last year.
That came out in 2011 I think. I agree it’s great though.
Did it? Well it was made in 2009 so I guess either way it doesn’t matter lol. Last year felt pretty bleak for Horror in general, hopefully it will step up this year.
Year Walk is a very creepy game, definitely a must play for anyone who likes horror or adventure games.
Somewhat good news for RE fans: http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/capcom-says-resident-evil-needs-horror-to-survive-after-resident-evil-6-fails-to-meet-sales-expectations/
Didn’t it come out right around the same time as The Avengers? That was 2012 right?
How do you embed ish now? <br><br>Finally saw Insidious after how hearing about how terrible it was. I think the first two acts might be some of the best in a recent horror film. The sound design and cinematography was excellent as well. The twist was pretty awesome and did a great job of playing with the haunted house tropes. That said, I developed a love/extremely hate relationship in the third act when it turns into the matrix mixed with Silent Hill. I applaud it for being different and creepy as fuck without all of the gore and violence. This would be one of the few times where I wouldn’t mind a sequel expanding on the concept. The director knows his shit. <br><br>Speaking of which, the same guy is directing this: <a href=“http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejMMn0t58Lc&feature=youtu.be”>The Conjuring</a> That trailer is fucking creepy. I’m all aboard. <br><br>I swear this is being sent to die on network television, but here’s the trailer for the <a href=“http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HW9rtFYsEw”>Hannibal tv show</a>. Looks like it could be really good. I’m not certain what period the storyline is taking place though. o_O<br>

It’s an amazing arthouse horror film with a steady buildup and amazing visuals in it’s 2nd half. True masterpiece.
Might go see the last exorcism part 2 in an hour. ya or nay? reply naow.
I’d say nay, it could surprise people but…well that movie didn’t need a sequel sir.
What do you guys think of Grave Encounters? To be honest, it was much better than I thought it would be. It had quite a few scares. I’ll have to rewatch Grave Encounters 2.
Rewatched the Evil Dead trilogy to prep for next week. I’ve come around on Army of Darkness. The first movie still reigns supreme, due to it’s more serious tone. It’s a technical mess though.
Spoiled the fuck out of the remake, by watching the b roll on youtube. The remake looks like it’s going to be amazing.
Grave encounters 2 was pretty cool. I still need to watch the first movie. It relied way to much on the demon face warp, but it didn’t bother me to much. I guess the original explains why the demon needs/wants to be a cinematographer?
Grave Encounters was better than I thought it would be (Doesn’t necessarily make it good, just decent), but the scares weren’t there. Also him at the end was really…off. I liked the fake psychic and the idea of a Paranormal Television crew getting their shit pushed in.
Haven’t watched the second one yet, have it up. Seems to just rehash the first from the looks of it.
