just had an idea for a survival horror game so you go through the game with a flash light and there is a monster that is constantly nonstop chasing you and it can’t stand the light you you’re constantly trying to keep it at bay while trying to escape where ever you are. you have to walk backwards keeping the light in the general direction of the thing while trying to find candles or something that can shield you in light so you can explore your surroundings to try to make your way out but they aren’t permanent.
Going to see the earliest early bird showing of Texas Chainsaw when its released. I know it probably isn’t going to be the best thing but for $6 i’ll take a shot.
Been hearing that texas chainsaw 3D is actually supposed to be a direct sequel to the original rather than another remake. Thats good to hear. We don’t need another one of those.
But what kind is sequel is it? I honestly haven’t seen Texas Chainsaw 2. Only the original, remake and the new beginning. Ive seen clips and promos for the older sequels like part 2 and 3 and it just looks ridiculous. More like comedy than horror so I never bothered with them.
Will this upcoming movie try to be a retelling of Texas Chainsaw 2? Or complete disregard it and pick off directly after sally rides off with leatherface freaking out on the street where part 1 ended? I always wondered what happened after that, if they moved because Sally would report what happened or if they would stay their ground?
Iono, but regardless im interested in this new movie coming up. Im not expecting the best thing ever but I hope im entertained. And im NOT seeing this in 3D, I can’t stand that shit. Only for CG movies, thanks.
TCM2 is a dark horror gore comedy. Totally different from the other films in the franchise. Worth checking out if you’re looking for something similar to early Peter Jackson or Evil Dead 2. Has a similar sense of humor but less slap-sticky.
I’ll be sure to post my thoughts early Sunday, or possibly Saturday night. Keep in mind though, I think 95% of all remakes, reboots, etc. are total shit. Even popular ones like Dawn of the Dead and Halloween…all shit IMO.
@Louis: Fuck you man , you try being 6 or 7 and having Jason popping up out of nowhere scaring the shit out of you after you think you’re in the clear. Also the House parts where you’re doing the stupid little maze to get to Jason and all of a sudden the fucker just randomly pops up. Enough to give someone a heart attack.
edit: wow SRK seriously lag spikes for me every now and then >_>
@Todd: The game can actually get decently fun if you get Mrs. Voorhees’ sweater and the Pitchfork. It’s pretty much the only combo that’ll even the odds with Jason, yet if you still have Mark or Chrissy alive and equip them with the items the game automatically becomes free.
That’s already been done. Are you familiar with the SCP? The fangame that is not fully complete yet has the living statue which you always have to look at and it only moves if you it leaves your line of sight or if you blink and it covers ground fast. The second monster is based of the SCP the old man, who walks through walls and sends people to other dimensions. He is slower when the light is on him. It’s interesting if you want to try those games, I think I posted a link early in the thread but it’s like only 1 other person from this thread actually discusses horror games.
This monster plagued my nightmares for years. It wasn’t till about 4-5 years ago that I knew I had to face this bastard. I loaded up the game Friday the 13th, got my ass kicked several times, yet managed to defeat his mother on all three days which gave me the items. When I equipped them, I noticed a strange sensation occurring, a sort of exuberant, newfound courage. I stalked that son of a bitch all throughout the camp, flinging pitchforks at his hide as he turned tail to run. It became an almost psychopathic, sadistic obsession seeing the guy who tormented me now running from me in fear. After I beat the game, the nightmares ended. I then reloaded the game, and several completions and versions later(yeah there’s actually fanmade versions of this game, I’m partial to Friday the 13th Gold which is really just a palette re-do), I still found myself bloodthirsty for revenge.
Ahem
Anyways, talking about survival horror games, I’m curious what the threat goers would consider the first survival horror game? I’ve heard several suggest Friday the 13th be considered the first regardless of its gameplay merits
I remember reading an interview with Shinki Mikami and his influence was from a old famicom horror rpg called Sweet Home. I heard it might be the earliest example of the horror game genre. It seems like a thing many rpgmaker horror games seem to take after. I’m interested in trying this game myself personally.
I didn’t get to watch all the parts of the q and a on youtube yet but I’m interested in this game. I’m really interested in how the game will play out. In a way, I’m hoping to see something like Event Horizon in video game form, something that will try to mess with your mind and have a threat that we really can’t comprehend. Definitely looking forward it since this interview from September sheds some light on their view on videogame horror.
The 4 or 5 videos Lunar put on youtube shed a lot of cool details on Routine. I’ve been watching this game like a hawk because it sounds like Amnesia in space with 3D metroidvania style level design and randomized elements.
First half of TCM 3D was mediocre, the second half sucked monkey balls. Rental at best if you’re curious, but waiting for Netflix would be my personal suggestion.
