I feel kinda weird about this…but Ash’s girlfriend was way more bone-able after being possessed and turning all giggly.
That’s because she was a crazy bitch and we all know crazy bitches=good at fucking.
Evil Dead remake trailer isn’t as horrible as I expected it actually looks okay but what the fuck is up with that ugly ass generic color palette and light filter that seems to plague every shitty horror film from the 00’s. It screams “oh look you know it’s a horror movie because we make everything look brown and green so it has atmosphere” GTFO. Evil Dead trilogy has always been built upon a very silly and progressively ridiculous tone, a dark gritty palette looks at odds with the playful vibe Raimi created.
Yes, nothing wrong
Other than Black Sunday I hadn’t been watching a lot of Horror cinema, been reading a bunch of short story compilations to get some ideas.
Checked out Monster Brawl, I set my expectations incredibly low but ended up surprised. It’s not a “Good” film by any means, but it’s a fun film for sure to watch. Lance Henrickson as a fighting game style announcer was pretty sweet, the background bios were really nice and added some depth to the production, while Kevin Nash hammed the fuck out of his role lol.
I look forward to a sequel if they ever do one, Monster tag teams or Battle Royal. Literal Hell in a Cell? I want.
Also caught The Beyond finally, to complete my Gates of Hell Trilogy. I didn’t like City of the Dead as much as I thought I would, I should re watch but The Beyond was really fucking awesome. I can see why people consider it Lucio Fulci’s masterpiece.
Saw Asylum, enjoyed it. Another anthology off my list…
Sent from my GT-I9100G
Asylum is pretty awesome. You see Nightmares yet? Pretty sure I told you about it, hard to find though. Grab that sucka either way.
Yeah, when they went into the first patient’s room, I knew they were gonna pull a face-reveal scene at the end, still, the build up to the reveal point drove me crazy despite the actual reveal itself not being so scary… but the images in my head. hahahah.
The wraparound story was good too.
I’ll try to look for Nightmares though reading the plot synopsis, I think I’ve probably seen it way back since the Bishop of Battle really sounds familiar…
Planning to watch Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis tonight… but that aint horror…
I’ll probably be watching Joe Dante’s The Hole tonight or Bay of Blood, dunno which.
Watched Noroi: The Curse last night. I was horribly disappointed.
Can’t believe I never saw this thread, I’m the biggest horror fanatic there ever was.
Yeah, it seems like they’re going back to their roots a la Evil Dead 1.
I’m skeptically hopeful. This would make the third remake of the Evil dead, but This is something I would definitely watch.
Any of you guys saw a tale of two sisters? Good stuff, I’ve seen a lot of American horror and European horror so I felt the need to branch out into Japanese/Korean/Asian horror; which I’ve heard great things about. So far of asian horror I’ve seen
A Tale of two Sisters
Dumplings
WHITE
and they were all fantastic. Can anyone recommend me some more asian horror movies?
I ended up watching both.
The Hole- I really enjoyed this film up until the last 25-30 minutes, then it kind of fell apart like most Horror films do when they attempt to explain stuff, leave me the mystery. Still it has that Joe Dante charm, he does a good job of showing children in cinema without feeling dated or forced. Overall I did like the film, just if I re-watched it I would probably skip the final segments.
Bay of Blood/Twitch of the Death Nerve/millions of other names was pretty funny. I mean that in the sense of all Italian films I watch, I just cannot decipher how they write a script I mean it has to be the easiest job there. I can figure out Asian and British cinema but Italian still eludes me.
Anyways the plot is a bunch of people decide to kill each other for some reason, I think it’s for land, though some just do it because they are told to or were a momma’s boy and other stuff. None of the dialogue really made sense but honestly I just tuned out everything but the murders. Murders which, are fantastic. This really is one of the earlier body count films I can think of next to Blood Feast and the like. Also if you enjoy Friday the 13th you will see it took some kills from this film, hell, even one of them was frame by frame the same.
I liked it, the ending made me laugh and I got what I wanted out of it. No clue what I will see tonight.
SexualRice: Yeah Tale of Two Sisters is good, Japanese/Asian Horror can be pretty fun. But mostly I see that area of cinema just fall into Ghost tales and Asian extreme torture/murder stuff.
Shutter, Pulse, Tetsuo the Bullet Man, and Audition are pretty enjoyable if you haven’t seen them. 3 Extremes has like three films so I assume it did something right. I added this Asian film called Black Rat I wanted to see up, probably scope it tonight. Basically a bullied girl who committed suicide sends letters to the a group of friends to meet at a particular place, naturally shenanigans ensue.
Argento’s Tenebre might make your head explode.
Seen it, I’m not new to this genre, just Bava films always alluded me until recently. I was talking as a whole, none of the stories ever seem to make sense but they are fun to watch.
I think the best story for an Italian film that I’ve watched is Fulci’s Zombi. Even then, it’s pretty bare minimum. Easy paycheck for screenwriters there.
That’s how Italians are. Even mainstream Italian films are like that. The films are carried by the imagery, the aesthetics, logic is not a big factor in those films.
Indeed, takes on a more artistic approach and interesting cinematic usage. Style over substance really. Their Giallo films are always wonderfully lavish and colorful in comparison to other countries works of a similar variety. It’s just interesting how long this has been happening and how persistent it still is, really gives the country it’s own unique stamp on cinema though.
There’s the theory that the Italians created the Slasher film through the Giallo. Blood and Black Lace (also by Bava) has all the ingredients of a Slasher, and later films (Friday the 13th part 2 for example) stole from Bay of Blood aka Twitch of the Death Nerve.
Good Giallo’s I’d recommend (aside from Bava, Fulci, and Argento’s films):
Torso, Autopsy, Perfume of the Lady in Black, The Red Queen Kills Seven Times, Black Belly of the Tarantula, Short Night of Glass Dolls, Who Saw her Die, My Dear Killer, The Case of the Bloody Iris, All the Colors of the Dark, The Bloodstained Shadow, The Killer Must Kill Again, and if you want pure sleaze try and find Giallo in Venice.
Yeah I was watching ToTDN and mentioned that, even one of the kills was a shot for shot remake lol. Torso is pretty cool outside of the big three’s work, it was a fun film. Most of the others I’ve seen but Bloodstained Shadow seems pretty interesting.
I forgot to mention Michele Soavi’s Stagefright aka Aquarius. Not a Giallo, but definitely a Slasher. One of the best 80’s Slashers done as only the Italians can do them. Stylish as hell. Great gore too.
Yeah, I thought I was the only one who recognized the Italian schtick of remaking movies. Fulci was still the best at what he did though (Zombi 2 being a really solid horror movie).
I was attempting to watch an Korean horror movie online yesterday but my computer started spazzing out so I watched a horror movie on netflix instead. I ended up choosing one of the few (due to how bad it looks/reviews) I haven’t seen yet called “Nine Dead”.
Holy christ was it bad. It was like plot-holes all around, the worst horror movie ending I’ve ever seen in my life. The acting was pretty awful too and character motives were bouncing all over the place.
Ugh.
I made a huge mistake in my life yesterday. >> Rights of Passage (2012) http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt1745958/?ref_=fn_al_tt_6
The film literally has nothing going for it. Nothing comes out with credit. Christian Slater, I hate you.
