What do you people think of Ghost Adventures? Zak Bagans is such a douche head but I’m a sucker for history and I love hearing about what all happened to cause a building to become haunted. This show does produce some legit scares and I like their whole method of debunking whatever it is they see. Much better than Ghost Hunters.
I really suggest watching The Children, man that movie was so gnarly. As far as Inside, I think the reason why I liked it more than Martyrs, was more so for the visual style and the antagonist (only known ad Le Femme) had a scary beauty to her that I found striking. Plus it was one of the few movies were I had to look away during a scene.
Also if anyone wants to read some reviews on Horror movies, I have some on my tumblr page. http://djhyperkid.tumblr.com/
just saw halloween 4 on amc yesterday, While I still think its one of the weaker entries in the series, I always find the opening kinda creepy with the farm house and the halloween decorations.
Best thing about Halloween 4 was the ending. Too bad they didn’t run with that in the rest of the sequels.
Man, Treehouse of Horror 1-9 was awesome. RIP old Simpsons.
Hell yes:

…and VF FS is full of this stuff, unlike anything Cap ever did past Vamp Sav!
Finished Existenz for the first time.
I need a second viewing to take it all in. David Cronenburg is the man.
Watched some Horror movies last night, about to start on another but here is my thoughts on them.
Apartment 143: One of those “Paranormal Activity” type films where a camera crew of investigators attempt to unravel the mystery of why an entity is plaguing this family. Honestly it was pretty boring, and for a Ghost type story it was paced fairly badly. No one seemed likable and it felt…rushed? Don’t know an appropriate word. I tuned out often and yeah, I’d say skip it.
Beyond the Black Rainbow: I don’t even know if I can classify this as a film, seems more like an art piece in the vein of Eraserhead. Like that film I was drawn into it though on my first viewing I don’t really understand what I was seeing. It’s set in 1983 and takes great effort to look and feel like that time period, which is rather nice. The dynamic between the Doctor and his entrapped Patient is pretty intriguing. If you are a fan of Eraserhead and films of a similar nature check it out.
The Shrine: More of a standard Horror film than the previous two. An Investigative Reporter takes her Intern and unwitting boyfriend on a trip to Poland to uncover a mystery regarding a missing man who visited there, without getting prior blessing from her boss. So they are three Americans with no one knowing they are there searching for clues amidst a strange village and people. Shenanigans naturally ensue and some cool stuff happens, but it follows a more typical Horror premise. Still pretty fun, has the dude from Jack Brooks Monster Slayer as a character and contributor on the film.
ive seen the shrine, i like it too
gonna finally watch ginger snaps tonight

I liked Beyond the Black Rainbow. I think the best way someone described it as a mixture of Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey and Drive (well sound wise). I felt the same way as far as the movie visuals. I felt like it was made in the 80’s (unlike Ti West trying to do the same thing in The House of the Devil). But I plan on watching it again, because I was still kind of confused. Anyway I only have four days to watch mass horror movies (and review them). So anyone have any suggestions?
Speaking of…
Watched “Eraserhead” earlier today. Part of me wants to take it as an experience, and never revisit again, due to the nature of the film. As an artist, I feel like that would be doing a disservice to myself. The plot seems incredibly easy to miss, if you just watch it passively. I only really started viewing it semi-critically, about a 1/4th of the way in, so I really don’t think it would be fair for me to give an accurate dissertation of everything. The very least I can say, is that it’s good. I enjoyed how creepy the tone was, and some of the more artistic shots got burned into my memory. My knowledge of Lynch is lacking, so I’m going to look into his work asap.

Also saw, “We Need To Talk About Kevin.” This movie is fucking emotionally draining. The cinematography is gorgeous and it uses a ton of elements from the horror genre. Goes to show, if you see the signs, get ya kids some professional help…
Tilda Swinton did an extremely good job playing as the mother. It’s terrible if she didn’t get a nomination for performance.
Lynch is pretty amazing. Check out Blue Velvet and Twin Peaks at least, his more critically praised works. Twin Peaks is pretty awesome until some of the later episodes, and helped inspire one of my favorite games Deadly Premonition.
Shameless self promotion.
Snagged a copy of Dead of Night at the Chiller con today. I also saw Greg the Hammer Valentine cursing and yelling at some guy dressed as a really bad zombie.
Lol The Hammer, I never knew he took his cosplay seriously.
How was the con overall? I’ve never been able to make it to one but eventually want to go, sounds awesome for swag purposes.
just saw Paranormal 4 and it’s pretty ass…
You expected t to be any good?
It should just be called “Something Random Activity” cause that’s what that entire series banks on.
I saw this preview tho

For people that don’t keep up on shit, or don’t know where to buy any of the odder and cooler horror things it’s a treasure trove of awesomeness. For someone like me it was tougher to find stuff since I already have most of the stuff I want. The Dead of Night DVD was a steal, and I snagged an awesome Grindhouse T-Shirt. Some stuff was pretty bust ass though, some guy had a giant Jaws head and was charging $5 for a picture with it. That wouldn’t be so bad but the head was set up in the goddamn lobby with elevators, furniture, etc. in the background.
The saddest thing by far was the wrestling table though. It was literally that scene out of the movie The Wrestler with Mickey Rourke with all the broken down old wrestlers selling junk and desperately trying to give autographs. Greg Valentine stopped my friend as we walked by to try and push some old toys on him and then started a long rant about all these current star athletes he’s training. It was really pathetic to watch, then the incident with the zombie kid happened…ugh, so sad. Oh almost forgot, Dustin Diamond had a table too and my friend started talking to him, she asked if she could get a picture of just him and he said “that’s $10, and $20 if you want to be in the picture.” She just looked at him and slowly backed away. Best part was everyone started snapping shots after that and his “bodyguard” tried telling them you can’t do that. Not sure how that works, but this guy was just sitting in the middle of the dealers room at a table clear as day. Pretty sure it’s fair game at that point unless you set up something in one of the auditoriums with a scheduled appearance, or you are actually selling your own photos to be autographed.
The Dead of Night you are talking about is the British 1945 Anthology film correct? I’ve been wanting to see that for quite some time, let me know how it is.
Mad Ventriloquist stuff is creepy to me, I enjoy ventures into the genre. Twilight Zone episode “The Dummy” and Magic with Anthony Hopkins being amazing.
