Nightbreed in it’s current form is flawed but enjoyable. Has a lot of great moments and a surprisingly well done performance by David Cronenberg but much of it is undone by studio fuckery. Some very passionate fans and Clive Barker have unearthed the full workprint and are trying to get an official release going. Heard nothing but good things so far on the workprint.
I agree that it was flawed, because the studios wanted to make it something that it wasn’t. But I think there are some memorable characters for sure (Dr. Decker being my most memorable in terms of creepiness). But I read a review of the Cabal Cut, which has over 50 minutes of extra footage that was cut during the theatrical release.
I liked Nightbreed, but it has some weird moments in it that seem out of place. Also, some of the creatures break character later in the movie and I remember scratching my head at some parts.
I agree about Decker, in fact I bought the resin kit of him many years back, never got around to building it since I’m buried in unfinished kits, but here’s a stock photo of the one I got. Speaking of resin kits, anyone in the NJ/NY area going to the Chiller convention this weekend? I know a few dealers so I’m heading in for free early on Saturday.

When I see those buttons on his eyes, it reminds me of Coraline and how fucking creepy that story is.
Flashing my ultra late pass for these two:

Mama: Decided to watch this after seeing the trailer from Del Toro’s camp. All style and no substance, but I think they nailed the creepiness within such a short time span. The way the ghost moves was unsettling and they don’t sit the camera on her the entire time, unlike some of these directors out here. Most importantly, the sister was/is a scumbag. lol. Looking forward to seeing what they come up with, for the big screen.

Bedfellows: Creepy ass short, ruined by a silly ass ending. This was perfect, right up until the director decided to add the nonsense two seconds after the reveal. Smh. I tried watching some of the director’s other shorts, but they weren’t really clicking with me. He/she’s (dunno who it is) really talented though.
Doc of the Dead trailer. I love the RLM scene and also the actual news report about the Miami face eater.

Evil Dead trailer released today.

I get the same exact vibe from this as I do the Texas Chainsaw and Elm Street remake. It very much has that heavy color corrected modern horror look that I really really don’t like.
I’m willing to forgive a lot if the tree rape scene is graphic and uncomfortable to watch.
I don’t know. It seems like the entire point of the first Evil Dead is that it’s this scrappy little movie that a bunch of friends got together and made in the woods when they were nobody. A (comparatively) big-budget, big-business remake is going to be just another zombie movie.
^ it was suppose to be serious and then it turned into the evil dead we love.
because of the SFX and the actors.
After talking with a friend yesterday, who was a much bigger horror fan than I was (he watches a lot, subscribed to magz, lol)
He can to the conclusion that most scary movies aren’t fun cuz there is no hope. people die and even though people came back time after time, there was resolution at the end of a film. Its more “try-hard” shocking and leaves people like me going… oh, okay then, Ill just read about it on Wiki next time.
Movie that brought this up [details=Spoiler] Mister Sinister [/details]
So I was watching I Still Know What You Did Last Summer last night. Still one of my favorite movies. Seeing Brandy is one of my favorite artists, I loved her in this movie, especially her character. Still wondering how she managed to get out alive, though. The end of the movie had her limping out of the hotel like a champ, though she did haul ass, so in my opinion she was kinda action-oriented second to the female protagonist. I mean, she outran/dodged the killer a few times, leaped over a railing or two, managed to somehow squeeze through the small window pane in the door, and survived a nasty fall through the roof of the green house (the attic floor doesn’t count because she landed on a bed), but she toughed it out. I’m hyping this up a lot, but I really like the movie.

Not going to lie, though. The killer would have gotten her ass in the second chase scene.
been catching up on some movies I have.
My bloody valentine is horrible and so is Shutter
glad i only paid $2 for them
Evil Dead: Matrix Edition? Why the hell is it so fucking green? People just start going ham as soon as Resolve opens up… :shake:
Watch the original My Blood Valentine and make sure it’s the uncut version. You can tell because the uncut DVD was released by Lionsgate and has a giant sticker on the cover announcing it’s uncut and has extras beyond just a trailer.
Goddamn Sinister started okay and then turned to shit lol
Anyone seen the new Silent Hill because I might wanna watch that next.

Anyone see Smiley? If you haven’t, don’t.
Okay so I just watched a plethora of Horror films yesterday. I just may have a new Horror movie to add to my ‘favorites’ list. I watched À l’intérieur, aka Inside and I must say, that the amount of gore in that movie just may rival *Martyrs. *I loved how Inside avtually had me nervous with what would happen next. For anyone into Home Invasion stuff and tons of gore, then I strongly suggest watching “Inside”. I also watched “The Children” last night, and I thought that was really good as well. I thought the kids in Eden Lake were fucked, but these kids in The Children were on another level. If you don’t mind seeing little kids (as well as adults) getting killed in brutal ways, then I suggest checking it out.

The Children looks awesome, I love movies like that. Reminds me of The Brood, think I’ll give my copy a watch today after watching that trailer.

I dont think the new silent hill is out yet
Its already out where I am. Just saw it, its not necessarily a good movie but I kinda enjoyed it more than Sinister.
However, both movies Ive seen today had way too much silly, loud jump scares…
The Children been on my to watch list for years, everytime I plan to watch it, summin happened and I gotta postpone. lol
As for Inside, I saw it before I saw Martyrs and I also liked it better than Martyrs. I guess I found the villain really effective and menacing instead of the torture-ish stuff in Martyrs.
