The Hori PS4 VLX thread

http://stores.horiusa.com/real-arcade-pro-4-premium-vlx-red-for-playstation-4/

red vlx is now available on the hori website. I guess they saw it was selling and decided to bring it to the states?

Ordered my red VLX on Arcade Shock’s sale this weekend. Ordered Sunday at 9pm and immediately received shipping info thereafter. I received the stick on Tuesday. $289 shipped B)

I really wanted to get one, but I saw my tuition for summer school and this fall and I couldn’t do it :frowning:

is that start button a Sanwa or Seimitsu soft touch start button or whatever it’s called? I think it’s 24mm.
If it’s soft touch, a mod I did for my Qanba Q4raf’s start button (which even Mike Watson approved of) was to put a Seimitsu LS-55 spring inside it. This prevents any accidental depressings and makes it very stiff.
If that Hori’s start button is the same, I highly recommend doing it. Will only set you back $1 and shipping.

Interesting that Hori has finally decided to sell it themselves here in the US. Got mine from AS recently too and think its great. The hayabusas are fantastic and getting a set to put in my kuro is now a priority.

@Vicko Do you have any more of those SOCD cleaners around? Wouldn’t mind throwing one in my VLX as well.

My VLX Kuro is no longer detected by my PS4 or PC (unknown device). Has anyone ran into this problem before?

Have you tried switching USB ports?

I did, both on the PC and PS4. Switch is set to PS4. I tested other sticks, and they work fine.

Your artwork has created quite a stir! BTW, I was debating whether to put in a SOCD cleaner. I played on an official Hitbox and was used to having an SOCD cleaner which ended up making my decision.

@Jannodude I’ve played with both and I actually don’t mind it without, but it’s nice to have options since some games respond adversely to non-SOCD input. I’ve also found that many of the classic hitbox shortcuts work best with SOCD cleaning.

How is the Vewlix-style hitbox treating you? Given that you’ve played so long on the original layout (I was on it for about two years), I’m curious how the cleaned up version feels to you.

The Vewlix-style hitbox you made/revised/refined is incredible! That and the added weight and stability of the VLX makes it even better. My execution is back! When I lose, I know I got outplayed.

When I played on the official Hitbox, I had to anchor my hand down a little to prevent it from moving. I want to say it’s like an official Hitbox on ROIDS! Thanks a bunch :). I’m looking now for silencers, do you know where I can get some for 24mm Sanwa’s?

They don’t exist to my knowledge, because I’ve been looking for them too. My advice would be to snap up a silencing pack from Sanwa or PAS (whenever they go back in stock) and use an x-acto knife to cut them down to size - that’s what I’ll likely be doing for mine. While the 24mm buttons are smaller, the switches inside them are the same size as their 30mm counterparts, meaning you’ll only need to trim the outer part of the ring to fit, and won’t need to adjust the diameter of the inner hole.

I’ve used the ones from Focusattack for my 30mm. I saw this though: http://www.shadaloo.eu/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=195 I don’t know how much the shipping is considering it’s coming from Europe!

Just wanted to give a giant ā€œThank youā€ to pretty much everyone in this thread. Ended up in the market last week (been a couple years since I’ve bought one compounded with excess tax return) and was eyeing the Kai before noticing the TE2+. Came on here to see opinions on both, saw the VLX get recommended, and proceeded to read almost every page of this thread. As of a couple hours ago I’m now the proud owner of a Kuro VLX, and I think I’m in love. =P

Your welcome! I was in the same shoes your in. I also read the whole thread and made my decision that way. You will not regret it and please post pics when it arrives

The only bad thing I say about the VLX to anyone is, it’s not for everyone. The size is quite big.

Yeah… It gets quite a pain to carry it for awhile. Normally in my local SF scene, I have to set it down when waiting for my turn. 12lbs becomes heavy to hold if your standing in a cramp area -_-

Actually it arrived today! Not much free time though, but was able to take it out and hold it which killed any worries I had. Has two tiny dimples, but I’ll happily live. Will take a few pics tomorrow before and after I replace buttons/balltop (a couple friends are really curious to see it now too).

Very nice  if you haven’t played on a Hori. Let me know how you feel about the Hayabusa. My brother is on the fence with either buying a Madcats or Hori. I keep telling him the Hayabusa lever>JLF lever!
