on a note about the bodies on the VLX…has anyone been bold enough to plastidip? my OG has some scratches, as i got it 2nd hand. I’ll be getting the PS4 version soon, but want to do something fun with my OG. And also can’t handle the scratches LOL
interesting. I totally flubbed some art in the past, used the regular colors and everything came out too light. i’ll definitely try and see how it looks. any other tips on getting colors to come out as vibrant as they can?
Complex subject it is, I’ll try to get to the essentials.
Basically, you have two sources of colors:
The document itself
The images you include in the document itself
Usually, I keep all the images as RGB and work the document itself in with CMJN values (using a Pantone physical color sheet and known working values, like the Black with 40% cyan).
Why the images as RGB?
Easy: a good printer will give you its CMJN profile beforehand, so that you can convert your document to his printers using that specific profile for that specific print run. As long as your RGB colors are good (calibrated monitor needed here), the CMJN will be good too.
What if my printer doesn’t give me it’s profile beforehand?
Go find a real professional.
So, that mean I keep my images as RGB?
Yep, you convert them each time you want to print them using the CMJN profile the printer will give you. Of course, if you keep the same printer each time and the printer keep the same profile each time, you can reuse the first converted file you did for him.
Does it work this way worldwide?
Nope, different regions of the globe use different colors, because people doesn’t perceive the colors the same way. US inks are most flashy while Japanese ones are the less flashy (and Japanese can directly print RGB with killer results, print in Japan if you can!) and European (the ones I work with) being a compromise of the US and Asian ones.
The Splitframe bag looks sick. Nice one @RagingAvatar .
Looks like it fits the VLX really nicely. My VLX is strictly my “at-home” stick, so I don’t see the need for me to get the bag, but it still looks great.
this was all fantastic, thanks a ton for taking the time! i’m gonna put some time in on a design this weekend. I think i’m going to paint my OG and see how the colors come out then match it to the top art.
same here, but i’m thinking about getting one just for when that stick isnt in use, just to protect it.
It’s not plug and play with pc sf5 without installing other programs/drivers. The way to tell with hori sticks is to look at the selector switch. The ones with that work with pc sf5 will have a 4/3/pc label on the switch. So far only the new smaller hori’s have that.
One VLX for all-Sanwa with quieter parts (2nd gen. silent JLF & silent OBSC’s) & other VLX for all-Hori (Hayabusa stick & Hayabusa/Falcon buttons)! =) That’s what’s I did but sucks to find a quality storage ottoman long enough to fit both comfortably without spending an arm & a leg.
You could just buy a usb cable for like 5 bucks and connect it to the usb jack. Just remove the top panel so u can run the usb cable through. Its held on by 5 screws on the bottom
I’m changing my Kuro buttons to Sanwa’s with silencers from Focusattack. I don’t know what my wife will say or react if I came home with a Hayabusa! LOL maybe get a beater stick?!!
