I totally understand the downsides of using a spray on product, it’s just going to be hard to find someone who wants to trade sides. Of course, while I was typing this, I remembered that the sides on my project VLX are white and I would prefer black. Perhaps we could work something out…

You can use automotive 3m vinyl wrap and a blow dryer to get them wraped perfectly to any color.
My Hori arrived too fast. The expect delivery date was next thursday but it came today already. I just quickly built the stand so i can play this weekend. 3 hours with what left over woods and some tools that are still in the garage. Too cold to work in the winter.

Ordered a Sega P2 1L8B panel from Jasen.
Realised that it’s P2 layout and asked Jasen to cancel my order.
Did some reading and found out that a lot of people prefer P2 layout and its sounds ace - but I’ve never tried it.
Had to send an embarrassing tweet to Jasen to ask him to keep my order. <facepalm>
P2 layout looks odd to my eyes but sitting down and considering the layout and the comments from people in the layout threads suggest that a lot of people really like it, so I’m intrigued to give it a go.

Thanks for the answers so far. I think I might just go ahead and keep my order of Hayabusa VLX w/ Play-asia and try and track down an OG VLX. What’s considered harder to obtain/rarer? The PS3 OG VLX or the X360 OG VLX?
Both of them are pretty hard to obtain right now outside of japan. You can try to occasionally check the trading post here to see if one comes up. The fastest way would be to get one off of amazon.co.jp or yahoo jp auctions and use a service like tenso
I don’t know the production numbers for the RAP 3 vs the RAP EX, but I have always swayed towards the PS3 versions of sticks just because I hate the multicolored buttons that were required for 360 sticks. I look at it like this, sure it’s easy to swap out the offending buttons, but then it’s no longer “original.” Plus, every other version has been PS3 / 4 only, so you know which direction Hori sways.

I bought mine from Solaris Japan. https://solarisjapan.com/products/hori-real-arcade-pro-3-premium-vlx. The only option is “used” but mine looked brand new, right down to the cap on the USB plug. YMMV. It did take a little over a week for them to ship the item, but they sent me notification that it was taking an abnormally long time.
did your OG Vlx from Solarisjapan come with box, instruction, papers and everything?
Everything, and they shipped it with a ton of protection around the original box, so it arrived in excellent condition. I really don’t know how they pulled it off because it might as well have been new.
