The Hori PS4 VLX thread

Awesome. Well, I’d rather have it shipped to me in it’s original box than miss out on the opportunity to buy a VLX! That would be… disappointing. To say the least.

Thanks, everybody!

Ask in the AS thread

Saw the thread. I should’ve payed more attention but have been reading this entire thread. Thanks for the heads up.

It’s been explained. If they’re now selling them for Hori from Hori’s stock and Hori doesn’t box the product box then… yeah… Nothing they can do about that. I ordered one and it’s already on it’s way. The tracking came fast. I usually use Paradise Arcade or Focus Attack. They’re good, too so having AS is good for another option.

Thanks again.

Is there any issues installing Sanwa screw-in’s? My buddy wanted to buy some for his VLX but I only have Seimitsu’s to test and they are fun but they have the smaller screw nut but my guess is Sanwa wouldn’t have a problem at all with the larger nut?

I don’t see why not but the worst case scenario you can use seimitsu screw nuts on sanwa screw in buttons and you can buy the seimitsu nuts separately

Why would you want screw ins when the clip ones are fine? Screw ins were meant for wood panels that are thicker than metal panels

Alot of people prefer screw ins. Quite a few people don’t like Snap-Ins.

Example I prefer Seimitsu Screw-Ins over Any snap ins and over any Sanwa buttons.
For me it’s the switches, only thing would be a step up would be RG buttons or OBS-30 buttons

aren’t the switches the same?

Nope. The Screw in Seimitsu switches are larger than the Snap in Switches.

Sanwa 24, 30 and select Seimitsu buttons (24mm and some Snap-Ins) can all accept the same switches.
The 30mm Screw in for Seimitsu is a much larger switch but still not as large as the RG buttons.

I’m seriously considering one of these next time I get a paycheck but the complaints it’s loud are worrying. I live in a fairly small apartment with others. I don’t want to wait until November/December for the silent HRAF4 as I’d kind of rather have this anyway but does anyone have any sound dampening ideas? Maybe anything you can stuff inside of it to try and absorb some of the sound?

The Hayabusa in my VLX is a lot louder than the JLF in my TE1, VLX has a hollow sound too because it’s pretty much an empty metal box. You can probably fill it with anything that dampens sound. Place thick/dense sponges and cut out places for the wires, the sticks buttom, the buttons etc if you want to make it really sound proof I’m sure. I don’t mind the hollow sound at all unless I have to be quiet then I use a different stick that has a Silent JLF and Gamerfinger buttons.

Thanks, it’s less about whether I like the sound and more about not waking people up if I’m playing late at night. Is it kind of loud but noticeable or does it make a lot of noise? I’ve play on vewlix cabs but those are in arcades that were really noisy to begin with.

Using the stick and pressing the buttons makes a more boom hollow sound than other sticks I own, it’s not super loud but louder than any other stick I own.

You can take Foam for sound proofing PCs and pad the insides to muffle any sound

Do you need any special adapters to put a Industrias Lorenza joystick in one of these?

Mount plate adapter, and if you don’t want to spice wiring a joystick wire harness adapter.
The paradise arcade mount plate works real well, and the VLX is deep enough.

splicing wire i don’t care about, that’s easy enough, i got one of the Kowal flat plates though since I had credit on FA.

The Kowal adapter plate is what I used to install the IL Eurostick in my VLX. its just a bit tricky to find the tiny screws for the countersink. but the local hardware store should do you fine. you can look up my past posts for this mod on this thread.

PA does have a particular IL adapter, but its more for using in real arcade cabinets and won’t work on the VLX.

your posts is where i decided to get that adapter!
do you know what size screws are necessary? figured they’d just come with them. If you don’t know what size they are that is okay!

Agreed, I use this type from amazon.com and it works fine. I cut it into 3 separate parts and lined the inside of the VLX with it. It had dampened the hollow sound alot, I also use silencer pads for my buttons which also help.
