Hayabusa I got mixed feelings, since I got a spare in the closet, threw that in to retain the original for the VLX. 3lb spring from PAS and octo gate mod feels good on it though.
Kuro buttons feels nice. I did replace the start/option button with a Sanwa. That button is definitely not a Kuro.
No air bubbles or scratches on mine, overall very solid stick for anyone that doesn’t have a VLX. Compared to my N3 SA, the built quality is amazing, it’s like 70% metal vs. to just a metal top and bottom panel. In the meantime I’m just gonna leave it as is, I like it the way it is.
Hi everyone. Here are my mods for now. I put in a black aluminum shaft and dustwasher + briar wood handcrafted sanwa balltop. Also put in black GamerFinger buttons with the orange Razer microswitches that I wanted to try out (feel= silent with slight bump, very responsive). I wanted to keep the darkness, the balltop has hints of red/brown but looks almost black in normal daylight so it fits nicely, and it feels amazing to the touch.
Me, too. I can’t decide if I should do pink or green though I’m leaning green atm. Definitely going to go yellow for the start button to give it that Astro City feel.
I did that dark green balltop on my all black HRAP EX… instantly gives it the military feel! I didn’t know there were matching buttons! I must find! good lookin out!
Maybe an idiot question. I got my VLX this past weekend, but how do I open it. I really don´t want to wreck it, and the videos I watch a couple videos, but never open it for mod purpose.
Warning they they flat/slightly concave I think on the top opposed to convex Japanese buttons
Edit: I’m thinking of the Seimitsu PS-14-G those are super flat, the PS-15 are just lower profile.
I’m in a dilemma. I’ve got a Vewlix F cabinet. I was thinking about getting a PS360 board and use my PS4 for my Vewlix F when SFV is released next year. The Vewlix F screen is limited to 1366x768 however. I think it’s kind of a waste to play SFV on a lower resolution.
I considered getting a HORI RAP.4 Premium VLX to use it for my 46" 1080p HDTV. I can buy that stick now, before it’s unavailable, but HORI might release another VLX next year so I might regret getting this one (especially since SFV isn’t out anyway). But if I don’t buy it and there won’t be a new VLX-version next year, I won’t be able to play SFV on my TV unless I settle with a TE (which I won’t). So basically, I’m considering to buy this VLX now in case it permanently runs out of stock by the time SFV is released. The only available ones by then will have astronomical prices on eBay.
And I could also buy it just in case and sell it when another VLX is relased. I had a Vewlix L cabinet before and I’d rather have a non L-style VLX stick. I prefer an F, a C, Dia or AmiBlue theme. I had the original Vewlix F-styled HRAP.3 Premium VLX stick before a couple of years ago and I loved the look. I wish I could buy an F or Dia look VLX stick for the PS4.
I doubt there will be a new VLX next year(but you never know), the last VLX before this one came out over 3 years ago. These are very limited and the Kuro version was only released because of a colab with Arcadeshock and Hori. I would buy one now if you really want one.
Can you fit any 32" screen in your Vewlix cab? getting a good 1080p TV will be more than a VLX Kuro but you’ll be able to use your cab for 1080p to make SFV look its best.
Yeah, the only reason we have a Kuro VLX is because of the owner of Arcade Shock, Vinh, wanted one. And not necessarily for us, but initially for himself. Hori didn’t want to put one out so Vinh had to do the whole presentation and pitch for it and put $100,000 of his own money down on the project. What convinced Hori is that Madcatz upped the price point of sticks to $200 with the TE2 so it made the $300 price point of the VLX more attractive than it was before in the arcade stick market. Then yeah completing the trilogy, high market demand for PS4 arcade sticks, and among other factors. Then Vinh had to show preliminary designs of how it would look, how it would have the PS4 features such as the touch pad, and other stuff.
So at this point and with the info I have, I very much doubt that Hori is going to put out a new line up of VLXs next year. However, Vinh told me that there is going to be a second run of the Split Frame bag next year that he plans to have a smaller logo on it, which is what I want compared to the current bag.
If I could obtain this 1080p Vewlix replacement monitor it would be a no brainer for me. The downside is that it costs $2105 shipped. I’m still considering the HORI VLX as long as I don’t have a FullHD Vewlix monitor.
It’s funny that your name happens to be “buyproduct”, but I agree with you lol. I just ordered one from eBay. It was a bit more expensive than ArcadeShock, but it was in stock. Better safe than sorry (when SFV is released). Until then, it will be unused because I play USFIV on my Vewlix. I’ll swap out the parts for a Sanwa JLF and OBSF buttons.
