The Hori PS4 VLX thread

SHADALOO!!

Also got mine today and had a few games with my Bison. It is indeed very stable. I’m gonna have a lot of fun with this stick (that’s what she said).

A quick question to anyone that has opened up their shiny new VLX, particularly in the PCB area?

Any idea where I could solder up for those 5v needed for optical joysticks?

Sent another follow up email to Hori regarding the scratch on my VLX. Still no response… :frowning:

from personal experience, they take around 4-7 days to respond.

For my fighting edge they sent me “In regards, unfortunately our warranty policy only covers product defects and does not cover normal wear and tear.”

But if keep bugging them, they’ll replace it. You have to send it back/pay return shipping out of pocket.

I’m really tempted to put a PS360+ in this as well so I can get some 360 and DC compatibility (and maybe a DB15 port), and replace the USB cable with a Neutrik USB. But at the same time I don’t want to cut up the case.

@rtdzign Didn’t you use a RJ45 cable with a coupler on your Xbox 360 VLX?

Seimitsu LS-56-01 and buttons installed Deep Pink from Arcade Shock. Sanwa 24mm that I had lying around, got a translucent mitsu purple on the way.

So Easy to Open and Mod!

I want to make it a PS360+ stick just cuz I don’t want to use any other stick ever!!! but I think the current ps4 capabilities wont make it tourney legal and EVO is coming up! Priorities!

Fed wire to an external project box On my Hss-0130:

I’m thinking of painting my VLX with plastidip. Not sure what color yet. Maybe black, red and metallic. Any suggestions?

Metallic!

Octerine

I definitely doing a metallic finish, over a colored rubber plasti dip color. The rubber spray offers better protection to the original color and case.

My vote goes to orange. Don’t be scur’d.

Finally found the time to give this joint a go.

The hollow sound is noticeable. My 90 pound dog and I wish they incorporated the breakaway cable from the TE’s. I’m not a fan of the hayabusa, and will be ordering a new joystick the next time these sites run tourney promo codes.

Breakaway cable is a Microsoft thing, and I think they have a patent on it. Easy solder job if you’re willing though.

I like to point out that you need a Microsoft breakaway USB cable for this.
There isn’t like a stock of breakaway connectors you can just buy online.
Well you can buy extra tail ends but not the other half of the cable (at least not that easily).

All Sanwa buttons.
Sanwa balltop, but still the Hayabusa stick.
Still deciding on whether to replace the stick or not.

A lot of people seem to be replacing the Hayabusa, feel free to donate it to the Tenshofund :#

Mine is still in it’s box. Deciding what to do with it. Too many sticks not enough time. Need to find a good play area for it and do a switchless mod so that I can use use it on my Xbone.

I have like 3 of the them and 4 Jlfs floating around. Been experimenting with the hayabusa. I like the smoothness but hate the softness. Need to try out different springs. I like it better than the JLF but the LS-40 feels so much better.

Just reporting

Changed the hayabusa joystick out for a gamerfinger optical. no sweat. kuro buttons have definately gotta go.
