Honestly you are reading what is not their in-between the lines. There no over-hype.
Arcade shock has a limited stock of the new VLX (that was stated on day 1), and they reserved a small portion of the VLX to have and sell at two tournaments that they have a table at (SCR2015 and EVO 2015,).
Of course Hori USA isn’t sold out, they have more units as Hori is the supplier. But Hori USA and Hori Japan is not doing international shipping, Arcade Shock is offering international shipping.
If you did not live in Japan or the United States you could not order a VLX from Hori. Arcade Shock also went with a deal with Split Frame who making a limited edition run of stick bags that can accommodate the VLX.
Those who ordered the VLX from Arcade Shock can get a 20% off for the new stick bag. LINK
Arcade Shock is the one who talked Hori to allow the new PS4 version of the VLX to be sold to the US at all. Hori USA didn’t start selling the VLX until Arcade Shock made their offer.
Also Arcade shock is the only seller that is offering (for a extra fee) a larger box to fit the VLX box into, great for collectors. As Roddy was kind enough to point out, his box was not as nicely packed.
@Roddy did you order though Amazon.JP or did you order directly from Hori?
I seen companies reuse boxes before. Also certain sized (or purpose) boxes are kinda hard to find.
Did you ever tried to mail a over sized framed canvas art where the art can not be removed from the frame?
Only FedEx provide the correct boxes for this, you have to use their shipping service, and they will not let you pack the box itself, only their personnel are allowed to actually pack the box.
Also the box alone cost alot more than it should.
That said the VLX is a beast, and I sure not many places offer boxes to fit the VLX into.
Hell I would not be surprised if my VLX (from Arcade Shock) came in a Amazon.jp box.
When I sold my VLX Diamond a few weeks ago, I had a hard time finding a box big enough to ship the retail box in. It was only after I shipped it, a friend suggested a specialized box store he used previously & sure enough, they had one.
I emailed Hori USA awhile back & they confirmed they’ll be shipping with just the retail box.
Probability because of the extra costs. Please note most manufacturers don’t care for the resale or secondary market for their products, and that extends to collectors.
Ya, I know that. I just think it’s funny they’re willing to ship smaller arcade sticks inside bigger boxes yet they aren’t willing to ship the VLX inside a bigger box (for cost reasons). Hori USA’s response was that…it’s already in a shipping box, LOL!
I inquired with them last week since I wanted a 2nd Kuro VLX & they told me it’d be available from this past Friday - Monday for some event so I jumped on that opportunity Friday mid-day.
We are reserving the remaining stock for NCR (www.norcalregionals.com) online sales, SCR (www.socalregionals.com) On-Site Sales (TBD) and EVO 2015, On-Site Sales. If you cannot attend SCR 2015 or EVO 2015 in person, your last chance to purchase this from us is during the 4 days of NCR 2015 online while we hold our promotion.
@Darksakul I got it from amazon japan. BTW, unless I’m overlooking something, the Japanese Hori store doesn’t sell it, you can only buy it from Amazon.co.jp .
Just got an email from Hori USA confirming that my order placed on Feb 28 is complete. However, it says no tracking numbers have been assigned to my order at this time.
Update: just got the email giving me my shipping info. Delivery date of May 1st.
