Well if Apple actually, truly took care of there customers the guy in that video would be out of a job (or rather his business would fail).
Also there no reason your data to be wiped when you swap out 3rd party ram. If this was actual PCs this would be unacceptable.
I donāt think thatās what @Taiki meant; I think he was referring more that the actual Apple support/return/repair service process could result in requiring the wiping of your device. Which, in many cases, is a moot point with their Time Machines and their iCloud services.
Not that Iād know this first-hand or anything as none of my devices are Apple, but itās based on what my brother tells me since ALL of his devices are Apple.
My brother in-law is a big Apple fan and he isnāt happy with the quality of service he gotten from the Apple Store.
He isnāt fond of the Genius is bar at the Apple Store any more. Too many products denied service or warranty claims based on asinine reasons.
I am happy with it.
Apple always serviced me fine, I even have an appointment because i had some plug which are potentially dangerous. In five minutes, a replacement was already coming to me and I am gonna exchange the extra ones I have at the Genius bar.
Otherwise, I have been a Mac tech like the guy in the video, and most of the time, when something went wrong, it was clearly the user wrongdoing. I myself have a machine from 2011 which even tried to kill me in a bike accident and it is still working perfectly. Rock solid stuff!
FreedomGundam is right. I meant to add, ā, etc.ā at the end of that as a long line of things that you should do before handing anything over for service.
(Including wiping it down; for godās sake there are humans who have to handle your gear and mystery smells do not endear you to them. Thankfully not one of my experiences butā¦)
Iām just speaking to my own experiences. āYour mileage my varyā is a problem that a company as large as Apple has with retail. In New York, the Apple stores were watched like a hawk from the service side. When I lived in Vegas, it was easier getting shit past the radar. So mileage will wildly vary. Although, if you have a weird enough problem it can be easy enough to convince them. I had dropped my phone and managed to shatter the LCD and the digitizer(wouldnāt respond to touch at all), but not the glass. The oddity of it all just confounded the genius who worked on it.
Point of the whole thing being, asking for warranty support, no matter who youāre dealing with, is at least worth it. Worst thing they can say is āno.ā
Weāre off topic here but the reason Apple specifies that your unit may be wiped is because often times, they actually do a complete swap of internals. Even if something symptomatic points to RAM, thereās no telling if itās the RAM itself or the logic board, and their internal tests can usually pick up something different (not to mention most current laptops now have non-removable memory soldered onboard). If thereās any doubt, they do a full case swap with recertified parts because itās faster than individually testing and replacing. Incidentally, those parts have gone through 200-point checklists so thorough that they exceed the performance parameters of even brand new gear. This is why buying refurbished from the Apple Store is one of the most dependable bargains around.

My Hori VLX āDiamondā Hitbox, with a Brook UFB installed. Big thanks to @āJasen Hicksā and @RageousX for the panel/UFB EZ mod kit and artwork respectively. I couldnāt be happier.
The default artwork is basically just a large sticker which u can peel off or you can just leave on depending on your preferences. After that its basically which route u want to take.
You could find a print shop that will print out the art wide enough, laminate it and use double stick tape so its basically a giant sticker
You could print it on vinyl and apply it yourself
Or the plexi route, which is not really an option for the vlx since no one mass produces it. To get a plexi onto the original panel u would probably need to drill holes into the original metal panel so u can hold the plexi down.
heres a picture with the artwork off and someone that drilled through the metal panel for a plexi
It feels great; i was a little worried at first that there wouldnāt be enough space to rest my palms, but itās perfect. I like the altered hitbox layout too, it feels and looks much better than the standard one.
Theyāre just Gamerfinger crystal buttons with Cherry MX blue switches. However to get the full ādiamondā effect i replaced the black case tops with clear ones.
They feel amazing. Theyāre not just standard Cherry MX blue switches which feel great anyway, i replaced the stock [=Y&s[short_desc]=Y&s[full_desc]=Y&s[sku]=Y&s[match]=all&s[cid]=0&s[search]=springs"]springs](https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=search_list&s[title) in them with lighter ones (35g) so they require less pressure to actuate.
This arcade stick is amazing. I donāt know why you guys are swapping out the Hayabusa, itās an amazing stick! Literally from the moment I swapped my TE2 for this stick and started using the Hayabusa, Iāve been nailing the hell out of my combos. Itās friggin unbelievable the difference. Iāve played on Sanwa JLF and my TE2 I had modded with a Seimitsu LS 58. The Hayabusa blows both of them out of the water. I have a Kowal Octogate out for delivery today and canāt wait to put it in.
Because opinions are like assholes.
Everyone has one.
A modded JLF is better in every way than a stock Hayabusa. I do think a STOCK JLF is pretty ass though.
Army bags can fit far more than a VLX.
And theyāre probably going to be miles cheaper than this one. So if you can find one and donāt care about looks, that might save you cash.
But if youāre rich and donāt care about where your money goes, here you go.
