Well when you’re 60 and nearly at the end of a long and stressful career, you can get lonely really quick.
And I agree, this season is getting back to its roots. See writers! You didn’t need to spend 2 seasons on a lurid romance to fill plot. If Brody had blown himself up at the end of season1 that would’ve been the most compelling shit. Now they’ve realized their error somewhat and going back to the tactical espionage action we enjoyed.
But they still can mess this up in later eps if they start intertwining the Brody x Carrie love plot with the central story again,
One thing I really like is their casting of Peter Quinn. Unlike most shows who cast special forces/ black ops dudes as Chris Redfield~esque jacked dudes, Homeland has an agent that looks like how much of them do.

Shit am still pissed Brody never got to make it to the white house, I was thinking him and the old Vietnam vet pay master dude would make an awesome team. I guess realistically, they could have flipped on Brody right away, and the CIA told them to just sit on him until they want him. Carrie thinks that Brody is her baby daddy? No he made the guy push his confirmation backabout a month or more. he is using this opportunity to get the high ranking officer out of the iranian lineup so his new guy can move up the ladder like he wants. Saul is real old school an i hope it pays off for him…

Carrie is a dumb bitch, she could’ve easily ruined everything. They didn’t even add a scene asking Dana to, y’know, like not tell anyone on the planet that her father is alive and in America?

also he did it to protect his cover. it was an inevitability that poor dude was gonna break and no telling what that guy knew about his plans.
I’m glad the season finally picked up. Those first 3-4 episodes were pretty boring.
He clearly showed he’s calculating sociopath who is willing to do whatever it takes to save his own ass. This is the self-servile predictability that Saul is counting on. Still it was sad to see a good soldier die for nothing. If he didn’t help Brody, the situation would’ve still worked out fine.
