The HEROES thread

the last episode was pretty lame. Why did hiro need all that training to use the lamest sword technique ever on sylar? Speaking of that scene, could they have at least teleported hiro closer to sylar so that it didn’t leave everyone wondering why sylar didn’t stop hiro? Seriously, he didnt even need his powers, he could have just sidestepped that slow crap.

And if peter was using nikki’s power, as everyone believes, then her power sucks. Sylar’s face should have been severely deformed after several shots from super power peter. Honestly, it didn’t even occur to me that he was using her power, the show didn’t do much to support it.

Lets face it, peter sucked. And why oh why didn’t clair just shoot his ass. HELLO ITS NOT GOING TO KILL HIM YOU DUMB BITCH!

that’s why it was picked up for Season 2 to explain all these questions, chill out people. :o

and the mini series Heroes: Origins gives the viewer to CHOOSE who gets to stay part of the main cast. It’s a 6-week mini event pre-Season 2. :o

Sylar thought he had Peter in a TK stranglehold, but he had already lost the fight…Peter had him from the moment the shit began using the ultimate secret undefeatable techniques…

Plot Induced Stupidity and Plot no Jutsu.

Oh and about this, Niki hit him with a fucking parking meter and he simply doubled over like he got kneed in the stomach. Sylar’s either that nigga or they fucked up the display of super strength when using it on a person (see Candice getting weakly tossed across the room)

That is alot of commercials. Shit is only an hour long where I live.

I bet you they won’t explain shit. That’s how they’ve rolled for the whole season, and there’s really no reason to expect different next time.

And, now that you bring it up, Hiro’s “training” was stupid filler bullshit too. Yeah, cause he’s supposed to be some iaijutsu master after half an hour of training, right? Shit, I’ve personally had more katana training than that (a lot more), and I still suck at it. Feudal samurai trained for their entire lives just to have proficiency, and Hiro’s half-hour training was supposed to be enough for him to take out Sylar? It’s not like he even trained in a time warp or anything or even learned how to really control his power, given the “ending” we saw. At the very least, it would have been plausible for him to freeze time before stabbing Sylar, but he didn’t. And yet, somehow, he still usurped Peter for the role of the “ONLY ONE” who could stop Sylar.

Nikki hulk power vs sylar

Everyone’s saying nikki hulk power should have straight up owned sylar. Well I dunno, didn’t sylar take a huge fall with peter? Didn’t sylar get shot a few times by parkman? He’s shown he can take some damage and shrug it off. Maybe he used TK to soften the hits?

the Hiro training was suppose to BUILD HIS CONFIDENCE IN HIMSELF TO USE HIS CRONOKENESIS POWERS not to make him into a samurai general or some crap. you’re missing the point of it. It’s not hard to wield a katana and kill someone, you can even do it by accident.

What I said above, this show seems to have a different concept of what would happen if you got hit by someone with increased strength. Niki slugged his ass with a full metal parking meter and he barely doubled over. Thus, Peter whaling on him with super-strength punches would not mangle him. It’s not like Sakura or Tsunade in Naruto taking swings st him (who very much WOULD kill him in a single hit).

Captain Obvious to…the…rescue?

Besides Blodia’s answer, I somewhat see the reason as Hiro stopping time and they’re just not showing it for once for the sole reason that you seem to complain: distance of the teleport’s initial locus.

There’s no way in hell that Hiro could have closed the gap that fast from “You!” to “impaled” without stopping time, especially since they didn’t show him running towards Sylar.

Perhaps this is why they just showed his time stop every other time because (some) people can’t easily think about anything that isn’t visually obvious.

Uhh…he wanted to, obviously, but yet again, his mother stopped him.

She’s got those damned boys on lock.

I’m beginning to think that she’s the next big bad given that Adam’s theory is highly credible–there’s nothing to say that the Charles in the last episode was “actually” Charles, especially since you think that she would have some faith Peter given he’s her (other) son. That and the fact that Charles didn’t mention Simone’s death is what make me think that, despite Molly using a possibly descriptive “he” when describing what the hell this is Uluru thing is supposed to be.

It’s the fucking TK Shield.

Considering that Nikki OHKO’d Candice without trying, attempting to knock Sylar’s damn head off probably would have worked if it wasn’t for that thing which enabled him to fall two or three stories and limp about only moderately hurt immediately after.

Geez.

Does he need to fucking glow with Star Trek special effects for everyone to keep this in mind?

I blame the goddamn dowel.

Fucking Mylar!

He also got taken out by a paint canvas pushed into his back by Mohinder. Hmm.

No, I did understand that that was the point, but it was stupid nonetheless. Not only did he not use his power (which I will talk about more in response to The Damned’s post) when he needed to, he didn’t gain the control over it that he should have. The only thing he got out of this bullshit training was a false sense of confidence. But not really because he was still obviously totally afraid of Sylar.

Except it DID show him running toward Sylar. Maybe you forgot because you saw it last night while I saw it about 2 hours ago. He clearly ran at Sylar, who turned his head to face Hiro but did nothing else (and don’t forget that Sylar is fast enough to react to oncoming bullets, which means his head-cocking should have given him PLENTY of time to react to Hiro’s attack). Also, had Hiro actually stopped time, which he surely did not, Sylar wouldn’t have reacted to the stab the way he did (or at all, for that matter). But he did. He turned his body to face Hiro, flinched, and then slumped over the blade exactly as if time wasn’t manipulated when his all occurred.

You’re right, maybe, but it was still stupid.

Hiro can manipulate time, can slow it down or speed himself up, that would explain how he’s running toward sylar but sylar isn’t fast enough to react becuase of Hiro’s increased speed. Think about the camera movement in that moment. You see Hiro, then the camera quickly pans to sylar noticing hero, then back to hiro, then the camera goes by real quick after Hiro makes the start animation of his sword thrust, giving me the impression he moved faster than sylar becuase of time manipulation. It’s no obvious in the scene tho, you have to think about it a little.

No. If you think about it, it gets even worse. If Hiro had that kind of control over his abilities, would he have teleported to the past a minute later? Think about it. Remember that, while Hiro has some control over his teleportation, he has never purposely used time stop without his life being threatened. The one possible exception was during the exploding car, but you can also make the argument that there were parts and/or shrapnel flying at him.

i’m still going to use his boosted confidence in himself for my arguement about his newfound control over his cronokenesis powers. :lovin::arazz::wgrin:

damn i was hoping at the end that hiro ended up in pre-historic times ala chrono trigger

anyone one else thought it was going to happen too?

Would’ve made about as much sense than the actual ending.

Well, I’m going to side with Sep, here, even though I don’t like reading his weekly disappointments on this show. I love the show, but it was kinda dumb for Sylar to go out like that, especially when he read the future comic and knew that Hiro was going to attack him in that exact same manner. The only thing I’d remotely believe is that he was so flabbergasted (yeah, I used that word) that Hiro appeared and actually was attacking him that he lost composure and didn’t attack.

Though, Sep, regarding the ending, it does make sense, if you think about it. He always thought of Kensei as a personal hero, probably moreso while he was doing his samurai thing on Sylar, so it would make sense that he would be subconsciously thinking about the time period and the man and would accidently teleport there. He’s like a delorean who was set to his favorite time, the old west, then got struck by lightning…

Thinking back to it, they should’ve made it start raining and have some western union guy come out and say, “Claire Bennett?”…

Ted is ALWAYS active. it’s why his wife died. He can’t fully control his power. You don’t have to see radiation for it to be leaking. They make a big point of showing you how hard it is for him to control his power, and then they emphasize it by making him ask for a concrete/lead cell.

No, peter can only absorb ACTIVE powers. It’s why he couldn’t fly until Nathan flew to him. There’s never been a case where he has absorbed inactive powers that we’ve seen yet. Chalk it up to what you want, I’m telling you the reason he didn’t absorb the powers.

The writers have stated this explicitly.

Uluru. Check my earlier posts.

I don’t think Eden activated her power around Peter.

Peter didn’t, Isaac did and Charles may not have known because it hadn’t happened yet. Peter was in the past.

No, peter’s first power was the dreaming. The second was flying and that happened AFTER nathan flew. Peter just fell. Rewatch the episode.

The writing irked me a bit because people did some assinine things (stupid Supercop Parkman forgetting that Sylar’s a beast, among other things). There were parts I didn’t like, but as a whole I enjoyed the ending. The show isn’t about DBZ epic battles. Despite the similarities it isn’t the X-men. It did what it was supposed to do and it wrapped up the season. Were there things it could have improved on? Sure, but more action isn’t one of them. The future episodes were for the action junkies, but they’re never satisfied. If it takes that turn I won’t complain, but I’m not expecting it to be DBZ.

Without Peter the rest of them die. It’s that simple. Without Peter fighting Sylar, they all get TK raped before they get a chance to approach him.

Because he knew Peter could fuck his shit up. Chasing down the no-names is a waste of time and every extra power he activates he GIVES to Peter. It’s like tossing a nuke to the guy driving a tank at you.

Or maybe she wasn’t trying to hit her hard enough to kill her and a guy that can stop BULLETS with TK may be able to use it to absorb a portion of the impact? Or, (and I know this one is crazy) one of the 6 other powers Sylar has that we haven’t seen is involved?

…yeah. You got me there. I got nothing for that one.

Uh, no. he already had that from the sword. The training was to make him heartless enough to kill a person.

Does anyone else think sylar let hiro stab him on purpose? Think about it. Slylar saw all of issacs’ paintings and saw the comic book that saw him getting stabbed. He knew that he wasnt the bomb. In the mom episode, he makes it clear that he does not want to hurt people by exploding (He doesnt want to be special). I think sylar knew he would get stabbed and everybody else just assumed he would die from it. He went to meet peter to stop peter from exploding. In the process he knew he would get stabbed, he used this information to fake his own death and then escaped to start his life over again in anonimity. Crazy theory, most likely not true.

This thread is funny, Random Nigga is suddenly the god of Heroes info and Jeeebus thinks he’s the only one who understands it.

Nigga, we understand it, it’s NBC biting off of lost and using Superheroes as an excuse to forward the plot.

The show was slow as molasses and not really at that dramatic. How can anyone be satisfied with that last episode? They hype this giant conflict for the entire series and it lasts 5 minutes at the end of the show, just like every other episode. How much time in each episode do you REALLY need to set up that Peter isn’t sure of himself, Sylar is evil but a little confused, but not anymore, Hiro isn’t sure of himself either, but now he is, just like that.

They went over the same plot points EVERY episode! Omg claire is CONFUSED about her parents! AGAIN! Who would have thought!

Now that the show is over, I’m officially retired from the show. The writers just make up shit on the fly, why can’t peter control the nuclear powers? Why can he control Sylar’s telepathy? Shouldn’t he just have to think of Ted? Why would Ted’s power take precident over all his other powers.

None of you have any answers for those questions, aside from Adam Warlock who will just make shit up and you all will E-Defer to him for whatever reason.

How do Sylars powers work? None of us know, does he eat their brains? Who knows? But if he doesn’t why does he need to open their head? Does he look at their brain and copy their “Brain Structure” in his head like a scanner and download it like a text file? If he does, why are the brains gone after he opens the head?

None of us know, I doubt the writers even know.

They are too busy crafting a poorly written drama that NBC is now going to Milk as much as possible.

As for me, I watched the first season and accomplished my goal of watching the whole thing as bad/okay as it was. Now I’m going to watch Rob and Big. True Quality television right there. DO WORK. The only NBC anyone should be watching anyway is on Thursday. The Office, 30 Rock, and My Name is Earl > all other comedy blocks easily.
