People commonly wash their Grado earpads in warm soapy water to help with the comfort issue. Might be worth googling that for more info.
I’ve been into headphones since 2007 I think. Used a couple before settling on Sennheiser HD650s for about 3 years then traded them for a pair of Denon D5000s which I’m still using today. They’re the best headphones I’ve tried and I can’t imagine I’ll ever change them.
So for gaming I had an Astro Mixamp and a set if HPA headsets. Unfortunately they took one fall too many and without a wiring diagram and some duct tape they aren’t looking easily fixable.
I’ve still got the mixamp and a clip on mic so essentially I’m just looking for some headsets with a good soundstage that won’t break the bank. Hopefully $50-60. Any suggestions?
Shure se350. Been rocking those for about 5 years now. You can find them on ebay for cheap I’m sure. That’s what I did. Ended up paying $60 for them MNRB.
Could someone recommend a good pair of headphones under maybe $220?
I was considering the alessandro MS-1 or audio technica ATH-AD700. Wanted one for gaming or listening to music, and dont care if it has a mic or not. Also, how do they compare to the dr.dre solo HD? Some of the reviews I have read is that it isn’t worth 200. The only other pair of headphones I have is like a 20 dollar sony stereo headphones so anything else right now would be better.
Idk about the Studios but I’ve gone through two pairs of the Solo’s. Beats in general are EXTREMELY fragile and I’ve had coworkers who’ve had them and tell me they had to get new sets because of how easily breakable they are (most complained that just putting them on would cause them to snap in a certain area, that’s why they made the Solo HDs). Got a pair of the Skullcandy Hesh, they were just as good if not on par with the Beats. Happy I took those Beats from work and didnt buy them.
So i just tried them on… Can still return it within 30 days as long as everything’s in proper condition/packaging. The packaging is definitely quite something.
However… I don’t really feel anything special about these things that my cheap $20 earbuds/headphones don’t have. Mainly because I don’t listen to headphones at such a high level that I’d hear every single beat of the track. lol. Most likely gonna return it.
Possibly a stupid question, but does using a USB-powered DAC/amp cause any problems (eg. input lag, polling rate, etc.) with arcade sticks? Most entry-level amps that I’m looking at are portable and don’t connect to AC outlets. Instead they plug into a USB port somewhere on the game console or PC and draw power from that. It should have no effect on performance of other USB ports, right?
That depends on whether you’re running individual USB ports or just a USB hub. If your computer isn’t really old and you’re plugging both USBs into the computer itself (i.e. you’re not plugging them into an extra USB port on your keyboard or something weird like that), then they should not interfere with each other or else they would violate the USB specification. That said, I’ve never used a USB amp myself, so YMMV.
ATH-AD700s are great for gaming because of the wide soundstage, 3D sound and are very comfortable to wear but they lack in the bass department or so I heard.
ATH-M50s are more rounded headphones with piercing highs and punchy bass, I own a pair of these and they rock they are the best headphones I have ever listened to and were a better upgrade to the sony MDR-V700DJs I’ve owned for many years. The only drawback of these headphones is comfort, I get tired of wearing them really fast, that was the same problem I had with the sonys too.
well I heard the beats line is crap but I can’t believe is that bad, lol. When it comes to headphones you really have to learn how to listen to the music. I also didn’t notice much of a difference when I bought my sonys V700s years ago until I used them for a while then I tried to listen to the other 20 bucks sony monitors I had laying around and wow the diference in sound was huge.
you don’t have to crank up the sound to hear the details, mid to low volume is perfectly fine.
also there’s a process in the headphones world that is called “burn in” that means your headphone drivers will sound better with time. The more you use them the better they will sound until the drivers burn in and [S]your head explodes lol[/S] they reach their final intended sound.
well kind of I don’t use a dedicated amplifier. I mostly use them with my creative X-Fi card equipped pc and my onkyo receiver. I also plug them in my android to listen to music with poweramp from time to time. They sound awesome there too.
yo i need some help but i really dont feel like scrolling through the thread to find my answer. Can somebody recommend me a good pair of earbuds that have great sound quality and has a decent mic at the same time? I’m looking for some that i can use for working out and to use when I’m on the phone. I hate having to hold the phone up to my ear. I have a Galaxy SIII if that matters at all.
So I am going to probably dive into the headphones world soon. I am going to start with the monoprice 8323 and then move up from there if my interest grows. I have heard a lot of people say that the quality is up there with some hundred dollar phones and at about 30 shipped I can’t lose.
Any of you recommend some good basshead phones? I want some shit that will make me really feel the bass.
IMO bass is overrated. I much prefer the crystal-clear offered by e.g. Alessandro/Grado cans (which can still deal out some bass when needed) than artificially boosted crap.
I’m sure a bunch of brands have models with really good bass - for my money I’d go with some Sennheisers.
