The real reason I want some headphones with bass is for when I am working out. It just does something for my intensity level when I feel the bass in the music.
Usually bass heavy headphones lack in other areas so i don’t really want them for listening to the music just to feel it, if that makes sense.
I was actually thinking about the Sony xb series, either the 400, 500, or the 600 but don’t really have a way to test them beforehand and dont want to buy blind.
Makes sense. I haven’t tried any Sony headphones (I generally avoid all of their products for other reasons), but http://www.head-fi.org/ is a pretty good resource - you might be able to find some info there.
it looks like a lot of you guys are rocking headphones in your crib. but for anybody looking for some on the go shit, the motorola s10 HD’s are a pretty on point. i used them with my galaxy and my music plays super clear, also the mic is pretty legit as well. they’re bluetooth, so you could prob use them with your ps3 or 360 as well.
I’ve got an old set laying around. They’re the best I’ve ever heard for $20. They’re certainly not audiophile by any means, but if you’re looking better for something better than the free set of earbuds you got with your iPod, they’re excellent for the price and you won’t be disappointed. If you decide you want to step up to something high end, you won’t feel like you’ve wasted much money on them either.
The cable is ridiculously long though, if you intend to carry them with you, I’d learn how to make a “Chain Sinnet” and use that to shorten the cord if you don’t want to cut it.
For those looking for a pocketable set of buds to use with phones I can personally recommend the the Klipsch S4 line, they’ve got great sound for the price. I was pleasantly surprised when I first heard them.
Don’t really wanna complain since I got the HD201s brand new for 4 bucks, but there’s next to no bass in these things. My old skullcandy hesh has more, hell even the ink’d buds. They don’t really get as loud as they should either IMO. But that cord really is mad long. Thanks for the help though.
A little different, but maybe someone has some advice:
I’m in the market for a headset for my computer (so it should include a mic). The difficulty is that I really want a USB headset. I don’t need audiophile quality, but it should be decent.
I’ve used some cheaper Logitech headsets (looks discontinued, but similar to H390) in the past, and they were fine but wouldn’t last more than a year or two before breaking. So I tried Logitech’s newer, more expensive model (H540) but now it’s flaking out too, so I think I’m done with that brand.
Headsets can be annoying. Is it impossible to use a separate mic and headphone setup? I personally use headphones and a Blue Yeti Microphone. My setup is a high end compared to what you need, but a decent usb mic can be had for under $20. If you absolutely must have a headset, I would personally recommend choosing a good and comfortable set of headphones as well as a Modmic to attach to it. Add in any USB soundcard and you’ve got a nice usb headset. I’ve never found a single headset that is both comfortable, durable, and has nice sound quality. But a modmic setup should get you exactly what you want, although you may have to spend a bit more than you would like.

Possibly a stupid question, but does using a USB-powered DAC/amp cause any problems (eg. input lag, polling rate, etc.) with arcade sticks? Most entry-level amps that I’m looking at are portable and don’t connect to AC outlets. Instead they plug into a USB port somewhere on the game console or PC and draw power from that. It should have no effect on performance of other USB ports, right?

That depends on whether you’re running individual USB ports or just a USB hub. If your computer isn’t really old and you’re plugging both USBs into the computer itself (i.e. you’re not plugging them into an extra USB port on your keyboard or something weird like that), then they should not interfere with each other or else they would violate the USB specification. That said, I’ve never used a USB amp myself, so YMMV.

Thanks. I suppose it should be fine. If game consoles can run two sticks without one lagging the other, I guess there wouldn’t be too much of a difference between that scenario and this.

Anyone have any input on full-sized open headphones when using arcade sticks? I’m interested in a certain pair, but I’m worried about hearing the noise from the controls, which I despise the sound of. Right now I’m using an old supraaural Sony pair (it does have leatherette pads) and it blocks the noise to a satisfactory degree, and I need any future pair to at least match the isolation of that. I really planned on just getting a closed circumaural pair, but particular open one has me on the fence.
Better than my previous 3 headphones, but the thing is that my music on the device isn’t loseless so there that huge of a diffrence.
Bumping old thread because I need help finding a good pair of headphones. I’m trying to find a good pair of wireless headphones as I recently purchased a Fiio X3. The Fiio unfortunately doesn’t have bluetooth support so I’ll need a pair with a transmitter that’s good for traveling.
These are what I use personally. It comes to wireless I tend to go more towards buds than on-ear but w/e.
You can find them cheaper if ya look. (Got mine for $120 @ Target)
After a ton of searching I don’t think I’ll be able to find a pair of wireless headphones that will fit my criteria. I guess I’ll settle with a wire then.
