Any recommendations? How are those in-ear headphones by Bose? Could they do permanent damage being that it’s inside your ear canal?
Dunno, but I stand by these http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00159YWDQ?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=dealt3692-20&linkCode=asn Great bass and for the most part crisp sound (I say this because my equalizer settings are off which is probably to blame). I listen to a lot of metal and they sound great which I can’t say for a lot of headphones when it comes to the specific sound of the genre.
I have a set of BOSE Quiet Comfort 2 headphones. I love them and think they are amazing. However, with that in mind, I’m quite sure you can find something comparable (perhaps even better) without dropping the insane amount of $$$. Since I believe you’re really paying for the name more than anything. :wgrin:
Which is what i’m trying to ascertain, competitive quality without paying out the ass for the name. I’m just looking at mid-range headphones around $100.
Can somebody recommend me some good athletic headphones? i need a new pair for snowboarding season, something that stays in my ears, isn’t a kajillion dollars, and doesn’t get in the way TOO much
Those are excellent for the price. A big part of the bass effect is because they are further inside your ear. Crisp even at high volumes. I listen to many different genres in one sitting and these headphones do a great job handling all my music. I would recommend those for compact earbuds. If you try in-ear, I think it is hard to go back to regular earbuds. For me, regular ones now seem to fall out way too easily and they sound tinny and distant. So if you do go for these, please be aware that you may not want to go back to regular ones.
If you like headphones that enclose the ear, I went for many many years on some old Sony MDRV500s until they broke when I sat on them by accident. Now I am using Pioneer HDJ-1000 Pros and I love them. When I am at home and I want to listen to my media while I am moving around the room working on stuff or just want to watch a late night movie or play video games without disturbing anyone I use Pioneer SE-DIR800C Wireless Headphones.
Some people like Sennheiser but to me they just “feel” cheap and I don’t like wearing them. I used Sony headphones pretty much exclusively for ages but now I am really liking the Pioneer action.
Hope that helps.
EDIT: Raziel321 I would go with ScithDeath’s recommendation - I have the same pair and I use them for snowboarding.
ive got a pair of ultimate ear super5pros. they sound great but they’re almost twice your budget. you won’t be disappointed if you get them though. you can always try them and return them if you don’t like them

Sorry, forgot to address this:

EDIT: Ahh, just saw your post re: budget. I think the Sony’s originally mentioned are well within your budget and will do the job nicely.
over-ear ftw
IEMs don’t fit in my air like I want them to. Ever.
I personally rock some AKG 27i (I think that’s the right model number). Only downside with those is that they hurt after 30 mins or so.
I just bought some crappy headphones the other day. Sumajin Headphones. Their smart wrap is great. Just not the headphones. Sound quality is less than my AKGs which were under $40
I have a pair of JBL Reference 510’s, they’re really good, though the actually bit that goes over your ear is kind of small. Or maybe I just have big ears.
got $16 skull candy ear buds and theyre absolutley incredible. a tier below the $100 bose ones but seriously, why pay $100 for ear buds.
I use Seinheiser HD-280pro’s. They’re ugly as fuck, but they do decent sound isolation, and they sound amazing.
I use the Shure SE210 in-ear headphones, I got them for free at a vendor show. They’ve served me very well.
What do people think about wireless headphones? What’s the quality on them? Anyone know some good brands?
ATH-A500
Goofy as hell to look at, but comfortable, nice isolation, and great sound.

right now i am wearing those when i run… they sound great and are pretty light. i think they look pretty good as well. they stay in and never need adjusting throughout my workout. the lows are incredible and i have only had an issue with extreme highs.
in-ear headphones are impossibly uncomfortable to me, so I don’t mess with those.
I have a pair of them Sony headphones that are available everywhere and shit [MDR-V150]. They’re cheap too.
They do the job. Good sound and bass, which is what I need. Haven’t had a problem with them yet [though I got that 2 year warranty for $3 more, seeing as the headphones I use always seem to short out].
As for in ear vs over ear, I prefer over ear.
Westone UM2’s here. I like them a whole lot more than the Bose in-ear’s that I bought for $50.
