Use s.lp,s.lp > lk DDT or s.lp, s.lp, s.lp (faking).
I also just eyeball the dive after knockdown a lot of the time. I don’t like telegraphing the dive with normals very much, because it’s such an easy move to escape from, and the punishment for whiffing is brutal. More of a surprise if you don’t do the setup sequence
Doing the setups are actually useful in another way though, because it preps them for a dive. If the opponent is aware of the sequence, they might be more likely to try an escape that you can instead bait and punish.
But that sort of cancels itself out, because if I don’t do the setups when I try to land dive, they won’t even know about them for when I try to prep them for dive…
To telegraph or not to telegraph… that is the question.
Yeah I’ve pretty much stopped setting dives up with normals, I eyeball things too. But honestly I very rarely go for meaty dives now, its recovery is just too terrible and my opponents are too good at punishing, its startup is just too slow and my opponents are too good at reacting, and my opponents all know they can just low jab out of it. The dive setup I use most now is late jump hk, dive kick/delayed st mp counterhit bait. Outside of that and some punishes, I use the move very rarely.
I think it’s good to mix up the set ups. If you keep using the same set up and then suddenly switch it up with an alternate set up, sneaky, sneaky.

Too much inv frames on EX SRK to catch it rising, and the u2 hitbox went away before he fell in range. Feels bad man

I think it’s because she’s completely invincible the whole time she’s in the air. It looks like U2 should totally hit it, but it does nothing.
The weirdest thing I’ve seen u2 whiff on is a meaty Dictator stomp. He did throw, charge during throw, and then stomp timed so it crossed me up but didn’t hit. He was definitely in the air when I did u2, but he went right through it. I think its because he doesn’t have a hittable/grabbable hitbox at his feet in the stomp, but it still looked like it should have hit.
There are other things that u2 works weirdly on too. Like if ibuki does ex dp, you can’t do reversal u2, because if she does a kunai in the air, she’ll escape u2’s active frames. You have to wait a bit before doing u2 instead.
It’s because she’s not considered airborne. Same principle with Guile’s sobat kick. His animation is completely off the ground but that does not = airborne. On the other hand, the airborne frames on a backdash can be caught by U2!
She is airborne actually, it’s just she’s strike invincible for the entire time that she’s airborne. Both Gief’s and Hawk’s U2 will grab her clean out of it. I think you can even airthrow her out of it?
Since Hakan’s U2 is an attack, not a throw, I wondered if Gouken could air parry it… but no dice. I couldn’t get it to happen at least. There’s no glass-breaking though, so I don’t know if it’s breaking armour or what, I dunno really.
For a blocked reversal Rufus EX-Messiah Kick, there are a few options:
Safe Punish - Hold up and do MK as soon as you get off from the ground. Stuffs sweep, overhead, and him doing nothing. Stays in block for the light kick. This is the safest option, but he can still hit you if he does the sweep. Once he is on the ground, you can instantly go for a cr.hk or a fwd.mk, and fwd.mp will counter-hit if he’s pressing buttons.
Punish Overhead - Hold up, if he does an overhead, neutral jump and land with a j.RH, cr.mk xx HP Oil slide. This option will not punish his sweep, and he can AA you on the way down if he does nothing.
Punish Sweep/Nothing - After the initial part of the kick, you can do an EX-360P on reaction, and you can punish him if he does nothing. If you know the sweep is coming, a mashed non-EX 360P will punish too.
Super Punish - Mashing on super and watching what he does will punish every option he has. If you see him do an overhead (you should practice it in training to see what it looks like), delay it until his kicking leg touches the ground. Any earlier will whiff.
I’m testing whether you can punish both sweep and overhead on reaction with a buffered EX-Oil Rocket or an airgrab. I’ll be testing it with a friend when I can.
F.mk is a godly poke and f.lp is a godly AA. Only RealPolitix can do the amazing f.lp AA 100% though. Fucking robot.

I don’t know if this has been pointed out but whiffing a s.mk after EX oil rocket gives you perfect range and pretty good timing for a safe lp oil slide follow up. So easy to pull off and rather effective. Not sure how much advantage it gives, but I tested it enough. It’s really good.
[edit] Only works against Ryu and the like. It misses completely versus Sakura and has disadvantage against Rufus.
vs. Boxer
Just hit the lab right now. If you stand just outside his sweep range and he sweeps, you can punish it on reaction with cr.FP. If he blocks it by any chance, or if it hits, st.MP will put you right outside his sweep range again. If you’re oiled, mixing it up with EX-Oil mounts a solid pressure footsie/grab offense.
Am I understanding these correctly? Are you saying you can link DDT from the tackle? Is that on hit or block? What’s the deal with cr lp xx lk DDT? Are they unable to duck the DDt somehow if cr lp hits?

They have to be standing, but if you cancel those into DDT, it will be uncrouchable. It’s a reset, but it’s a sneaky one most people won’t catch.

Just on hit and its character specific. Dhalsim, Honda, Cammy and two more that I can’t remember (Blanka?) can crouch even on hit. Even so, your opponent needs to have good reactions if he is not expecting it.
Actually, I think it went like so:
Every character except Dhalsim, Honda, Blanka, Cammy, and the other one can get grabbed after f.mp on hit.
The only characters it work on block on are Ryu, Guile, T Hawk, and the rest of that group of characters that the s.mp safe jump works on. Anyone else on block and they can crouch.
