Against Juri: Block? You beat her with most normals I think (from experience) and the stamina difference is pretty big. Just be careful.
i’v been playing him a lot lately and my biggest problem seems to be balrog he can safe jump you and his normals and dash punches shut you out can anyone give me some advice??
Starting to get the hang of Hakan. I was having a lot of trouble at first, but I’m doing a lot better with him.
All that matters is staying patient and finding an opportunity to oil up, then just wrecking with rush down and 360p to oil up again. Just played against some Dhalsim though, and it’s gotten a bit easier. If you find an opportunity to oil up you can work his wake up pretty bad. And his HP gets punished by FADC > f.RH. It’s just really tough getting an oil up. But, a couple times I’ve been able to punish fire with a regular slide > followup without getting hit, which makes me wonder if we could do it to anyone else.
A couple of other things:
-
I don’t know if it’s because I’m doing it too late. But lk oil after slide>flop seems to be massively unsafe against anybody with even a half decent wake up move. I’ve been srked and spded so many times.
-
360k is sweet. It’s what I aim for a lot if I’m unoiled. Can take them to the corner, and gives you a safe opportunity to oil up. Tick set ups into it are decent. Also…I had it beat lariat O.o
You’re probably linking the oil too late after the slide followup. It’s perfectly safe to my knowledge and I’ve blocked several SRKs after oiling up. It’s fantastic because not only did I just oil up, but I instantly set up my opponent for massive punishment
LK oil after slide + followup provides awesome (maybe risky!) mindgames against Gief, I managed to LK oil > Ultra 1 a Gief last night, haha!
The LK oil after slide mixup is one of the big reasons I find Hakan so fun to play. :bgrin:
Since there isn’t a thread for it (even though I’ve said in two other places already), GG Bronzefist.
You’ve impressed me with Hakan. I was going to give him a try already, but between the Oil cancel and his Daimon-esque normals (without the bullshit unblockables), he looks rather promising and fun.
Also, “we” need to make a list of what Ultra II can catch because I’m almost convinced that it catches everything that’s even slightly leaves the ground–lol, accidental Juri s.RK = death. However, there has to probably be some things that beat it. (Maybe. I mean, it’s basically a counter Ultra, except unlike Cammy’s and Fei Long’s [sigh, I had hope too] it’s rather beastly.)
yo sup guys , i main fuerte but i have been playing Hakan as a possible secondary character … i haven’t seen this yet so i figure that i would post some stuff i tested … Hakans duck [D + ppp] shuts down some/most of Fuertes pressure options … i want to test more but thats what i got so far in that matchup aside from the fact Oil Hakan is a BEAST Peace and crisco grease for now
So about the Dhalsim matchup. This will be a matchup with a steep learning curve but in the end I expect it to fall in the 4-6 possible 5-5 range for Hakan. Even without oil, Hakan has a few things he can exploit. Hakan’s FA on release is amongst the best in the game and can crumple Sim if he throws out grounded limbs (if timed right). When Dhalsim goes to the air that’s when you want to slide to get close to him. It’s all about getting the small damage where it counts. Don’t abuse slide too much because it can be Yoga Towered for a free throw. Learning how to properly block everything Dhalsim throws at you is important since a great Dhalsim player can shut down a player only using normals and not relying on teleport mixups. Patience is the key here. Also a small note, if you have U2 and get a knockdown do a late jump over Sim and try to bait teleport away on wakeup. If you did it right, they should’ve teleported away which is really towards you and you can ultra for free. I’ve got it to work a few times.
A lot of this stuff will hold true for the Seth matchup which I’m convinced will be easier than Sim, since Seth relies on jumping a lot.
As I play these matchups more in the next few weeks I will fill you guys in on more details. Just remember, that patience is the key to these matchups.
Did some matches with **Guy **and got this for punishers:
-Block Run Slide = Free normal throw unless you can do something better, tried 360 P but unable to grab him.
-Block Run Jump Kick = Free 360 P with/without oil
-If you see Guy trying to do a flip throw or flying elbow from far away, counter with an Anti-Air attack standing. FP or Ultra 2.
Remember how after Zangief does a SPD on you and then wiff green hand and SPD again?
Hakan has one similar to that.
Here’s what you do:
After successfully doing a Oil Slide and Body Press. Do a LK version of Oil Shower and then 360 P as soon as the opponent stands up. It works since the oil shower increase your grab. After that, oil up more, go for 360 K (very risky) or try to the Slide, Oil, Grab again (Let’s call it SOG for now)
Stay tune for more.
It beats out everything. He has full invulnerability frames when it is active. If it leaves the ground it gets caught.
AKA. It Rapes.
I tested U2 in many cases, final conclusion is as follows:
As long as the opponent feet is above the ground, he gets Ultra’d. Hop kicks (which are “grounded” attacks, but looks airbrone) also gets ultra.
As long as their feet is above the ground.
a Hopkick is a AIRBORN atack which looks “more groundet” your explanation was totaly wrong ! please recorrekt it ! Explanation: every airborn move can not get grabed and you can not grap anybody from a hopkick! except with airgrabs!
What do I do about Guile? I fought this bastard almost constantly since release and I am getting cleansed. He’s got an answer for EVERYTHING. He keep away is phenomenal. Sonic booms and great AA normals make this fight a bitch for me. Any suggestions on how to close gap?
I’m at a loss with Hakan. How does he beat anybody holding down and back without being oily for some grabbing fun? Does he have any standing overheads that I’ve somehow overlooked?
if they are turtling… time to oil up!
HP slide goes a great distance even when not oiled but it doesn’t beat projectiles unless your at a good distance. Your have to walk and block the projectiles from Guile to close gap or you can oil up and coward crouch to build meter.
EX slide goes through projectiles and you should be safe on block if at full screen. Try using f+lp or jumping back lp to stuff his AA options when he decides to jump in.
I assume you can take the lead in health and turtle him back since you can duck projectiles.
The golden rules of sliding under projectiles is this.
1)EX will pass through them, but not Kunais.
2)All slides pass under projectiles until his feet. So if you are close enough you can catch them before getting hit.
Landing a 360+K gives you enough time for a MK Oil > Mix-Up.
If I’m not already oiled-up, this set-up lets me start with the offense. After that, it’s FA DNC combos for punishing.
Light 360+K after Oiling when the opponent is near you will catch jumps and backdashes, which 360+P does not. Light version only.
What can Hakan do about Claw? I’m having some trouble. A good Claw can just turtle all day. Dives are beaten about by Hakan’s air normals, but Claw can always just air suplex him. Not sure what else can be done.
If you block a FBA or any dive for that matter, when oiled up, it’s a free Oil Rocket (360+P). Just play smart and block, and when you get that chance, oil-up and start your mix-up. Backflips can be caught with 360+K.
The key is being oiled up. Sacrifice some damage to be oiled up, unless Claw has Ultra 1 and he’s down-backing.
