The Hajime no Ippo (HnI) thread - Gazelle Punch Her in the Gut!

I still thikn Ippo’s gonna beat this guy to hell and back pretty easily. Though the fact he could escape Vorg is pretty surprising.

Ippo is gonna destroy this guy’s body. No way is he bringing something Ippo hasnt seen.

Still wanna see Sendo vs Ippo III

Vorg is baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!

Aw yeah, Alexander Vorg motherfuckin’ Zangief is back.

wtf, i hate how they demoralize Vorg. he’s a badass

=(

Vorg is indeed pretty pimp. I think in the next chapter Vorg will put Ippo’s next opponent in his place. Vorg isn’t nearly THAT green.

mogley seems to have a few naturally developed techniques

similar to

[details=Spoiler]Is Ippo’s own age with extensive physical conditioning…
-Superior concentration, and natural instincts to peak Itagaki.
-Superior speed, ie hand and footwork, to peak Miyata (or even).
-The porcupine flurry, but doesn’t sting like Itagaki’s fist.
-That “blind spot” perfect punch (Miyata’s or more of Itagaki?)
-Hard to read like wild Bryan Hawk or the 3 stance Ashura jr.
-May actually hit hard… for a technical (if unorthodox) speedster.
-May actually handle damage… for a technical (if unorthodox) speedster.
-May match or exceed Ippo in raw stamina.

This should be quite an exciting match. 2-3 chap fight with a one chap wait to start.

Vorg’s not green but that was more like getting SSJ2 back handed while having your SSJ1 hands in your pockets looking for a senzu bean. Vorg couldn’t have expected that kind of speed or handle that strong a hit from his blind spot. imho, Vorg’s endurance was high for a tech boxer but not a bruiser boxer like Sado.

expect Ippo to get hit by one or two of those hits in the 1st three rounds, drop once, think about what happened, and avoid the next one. It will be an up hill fight from there, but a good one.

:p: chapter 862 :p:

No way. For the most part, any fight with pre-training chapters usually end up being an average of 6-8 chapters long.

:p: chapter 863 :p:

I’m looking forward to this match just to see what Woli’s trick is.

He’s El Fuerte.

stupid question; so who is Woli/hawk’s coach?

i remember the kamogawa arc as just focusing on the american… not some mohawk looking dude.

his name is miguel zail. he was the cornerman of anderson who fought kamogawa and was the trainer of bryan hawk.

Rope-a-dope is a boxing fighting style used most famously by Muhammad Ali (who coined the term) in the Rumble in the Jungle against George Foreman.

The rope-a-dope is performed by a boxer assuming a protected stance, in Ali’s classic pose, lying against the ropes, and allowing his opponent to hit him, in the hope that the opponent will become tired and make mistakes which the boxer can exploit in a counterattack.
In competitive situations other than boxing, rope-a-dope is used to describe strategies in which one party purposely puts itself in what appears to be a losing position, attempting thereby to become the eventual victor.

I have a feeling he’s just gonna throw some fast punches and use the ropes to jump around. But if he does the rope-a-dope, I dont think Ippo is gonna tire out.

Finally caught up with Ippo. After this last season, I simply couldn’t wait for the show to begin again. Damn there are some great matches after the Hawk fight.

I doubt Woli would use the rope-a-dope given what we’ve seen. He probably uses the ropes to give himself insane speed which is how he got away from Vorg and why he was testing the ropes before the match. Remember he was bouncing off of the ropes to see how they were. I could also see him springing off the ropes and punching Ippo. If he was going to use the rope-a-dope, he would have sat there and let Vorg beat him down in the vain hope of wearing him down.

Man, is the standard of Ippo going that low? That it’s turning into wrestling now?

Fan made Ippo vs Sendo fight! Pretty well made…

HnI has never really used standard boxing techniques as is. It’s always been real life boxing maneuvers that are exaggerated beyond recognition. Flicker Jabs and Hitman style/stance exist, but they don’t look anything like how Mashiba uses them, nor does the Dempsy Roll work the same way in real life as how Ippo uses it. Rope-a-dope would be the most boring thing to read/watch in an anime or manga and putting yourself into a defensive position vs Ippo who can punch tree trunks into hillsides.

Don’t know how you would judge Ippo’s standards when you have people like Aoki doing frog uppers and double punches and pretends it’s actually his serious style (which it is, sadly). I don’t even know what you would call Ippo sometimes, it’s not really boxing, it’s more of a wrestling version of boxing with boxing rules. 99% of the signature punches in the manga are physically impossible to do in real life just like how 99% of the moves in wrestling are impossible to do on anybody that’s not retarded enough to struggle or get out of the way.
