i really enjoy itakagi. he’s shaped up to be the most “normal” of all the characters and is kinda like a reader’s insight. compared to the “freaks” in the komogawa gym he brings back a bit of balance with his social abilities and filling an important role in looking up to ippo.
he had some hilarious moments as well. i laughed quite hard when he tried to cheer up takamura with some stupid pun while he was weight cutting. not to forget his awesome family.
and besides i like how he is fighting. speedstars <3
I’m not that fond of Itagaki, but I don’t hate him either. He does bring to the story an insight into an up and comer not from a superhardworkign person (Ippo) or from a couple of losers (Aokimura) but rather from a guy good in his own right that will go through his own series of trials cause he’s the junior of the champ whom he looks up to and can’t challenge and has a whole different fighting style against.
As for Kimura, I thought he’d be the sort of normal person, the sort of base that everyone needs to stand out. He’s basicaly the foil of nothing, the uninteresting one, the unspecial one, just a sort of mid range of eveyrthing that the story needs for the rest of the cast to stand out.
Kimura vs Mishiba is my favorite fight in the series, and Aoki, well he’s awesome comic relief. They both have had really interesting fights, even if they do lose. Sure they haven’t done much lately, but they’re still staples of the series. Itagaki, i dunno, I don’t care about any of his fights, his rivalries, he’s just such an uninteresting character. His sister is more interesting than him.
Yeah, I don’t mind Aoki or Kimura’s presence any bit. They’re a good source of humor, especially Aoki, and their commentary on current matches are welcome.
Glad to see we’ll be getting more anime Ippo goodness, despite NC ending at 26 episodes.
I thought the Kimura VS Mashiba arc was one of the better fights in the series so far. I’m kinda suprised to hear his “Dragon Fish Blow” or whatever isn’t doing much for him
sorry, i usually watch it live via keyholeTv and later on the saizen subs. just check the usual youtube accounts. i am sure it will be online pretty soon.

double edit: beat me to it, king =P
I can’t wait until Ippo gets to unleash his ultimate weapon. He’s been training to be able to throw different punches from his Dempsy to setup for the finish for awhile now, but he hasn’t been able to get in any fights. Watch Ippo turn out to be some Super Genius after this fight, should be the one to boost him towards the world stage what with if he actually gets some variation in his Dempsy combined with Tekken, good bye competition, only way he can lose is basically against types that either don’t let him attack or are too fast.
Hopefully it’s not a fight that’s similar to his last fight (Keichi Take), I hated that fight because it was just so boring. I understand wanting to inject some clever fighters into the mix, but he was hella boring.
