Sequel to Hajime no Ippo: New Challenger Being Planned
Rikiya Koyama, the voice actor of the Mamoru Takamura character in the Hajime no Ippo boxing anime franchise, has revealed in his blog on Friday that a sequel to the ongoing Hajime no Ippo: New Challenger television series is being planned. Koyama was posting about the end of dialogue recording for the series, since the cast just finished work on the 26th and final episode. (The final episode, “New Challenger,” will air in Japan on June 30.) At the end of his Friday blog entry, he wrote, “Of course, a sequel is also being planned!!”

i figured as much…i expect it in the fall.
well, i am just relieved they are planning with a new season because it would have stopped right before the kamogawa/nekota backstory which has to be my favorite arc. i can’t wait to see TEKKEN!
What is this “sequel” crap though? They should just transition right into season format. I just find it weird that the manga has been running for like 20 years but the anime can barely stay on the air.

My guess is that he’s going to be a lot like Itagaki. Pretty much everything in the chapter leading to the challanger seems to points towards it.
Also I’m hoping Aokimura finally win a match. Their records are, what, 1-99 now?

Why is Itagaki still around. he needs to go train in america or something, god I hate that guy. If it wern’t for his family he would of been a pretty useless addition to the story.
lol and what do the loser twins do to progress the story…they just lose matches. the last time they progressed a story was in an ova about a good overall explanation about them losing and why they struggle so much.
