just watched ep. 2. awesome episode again. bloody cross was bloody as hell. the series is very fast paced so far. love it.

If Ippo were smart, he’d incorporate Randy’s unique pivoting thing and fuck up every single outboxer he came across, even if it were a bootleg copy. That pivoting thing makes it damn near impossible [look at Itagaki, even his time stop bullshit got owned up] for someone who uses footwork to get away.
the thing is, not everyone is able to use switch hitting effectively. rbj is “natural talent personified” to take the manga words. if it would be that easy everyone would switch hit.
Is this coming out in NA? I probably pick up a PSP for this game.
It’s not really switch hitting in this situation, it’s more of the pivoting he does to make sure he’s always facing his opponent. RBJ has that asura nickname because he’s always facing you, which is due to that pivoting he does.
yup, and that’s called switch hitting. opponent goes left he goes from the neutral stance into southpaw if he wants to circle right rbj goes orthodox. it’s not something everyone can do. you need to able use both sides effectively.
yeah. and you gotta have at least equal strength in both of your arms to be just as dangerous in both sides.
I’ve seen Roy Jones interchange stances mid fights. I wasn’t aware of what was going on when I was at that young age, but I remember the announcers shitting bricks and thought it was some sort of miracle.
not true. i’ve seen switch hitters who are just smarter about the hands. look at de la hoya…he switch his but its his left hook thats one of his strongest moves. yet he stands alot in a more traditional stance.
lol yeah. now it’s not really that uncommon to switch sides in boxing. nowadays boxers are also way more hybrid than they were back then but ippo still takes place in the early 90s =P

Not sure about Gedo, as I haven’t used him. However, he can change his face to that creepy blank eyes look and it seems like his jabs then are further (godfuckingdammit).
No blocking as usual, besides the usual parrying (press proper button in correct moment of opponent’s punch).
Sawamura has an insane boost. It takes forever to knock the guy down. I really can’t beat him as Ippo, as his Bullets have gotten better (tracks better AND does hefty damage).
Randy Boy Jr. is ridiculously fun. He only has two specials, and they’re both switching stance (one is step forward switch, one is step back). However, he is really fast, has good reach, and does mad damage overall. He’s knocking out everyone quick.
Except Ricardo cause he’s a cunt. :sad:
PS - Note that the game is slower overall. A lot of the hurt animations are now much harder to trigger, so it’s not realistically possible to do like repeated body blows to death, from what I can tell. Most of the ones that do trigger are quick too, so the next hit isn’t guaranteed, and gives you a chance to weave out of a flurry of attacks.
PPS - No more bullet time specials either. That’s good.
