Yeah I’m well aware. However, for the audience, Ippo’s meek personality and the time it’s been taking for his “evolution” is taking its toll on our patience. Obviously Ippo is all about growth, but from the looks of things Ippo has backtracked or stayed static for the longest; whether it be his fighting mentality or his love life.
Ippo has been boxing in universe for like 6 years now. It’s retarded that he’s still like this. Shit. It’s not that he’s grown weaker. He’s just stayed the same while everyone else has grown stronger. He isn’t adapting to the new shit, and he’s not progressing anymore. He reached his plateau at this point, and he refuses to go past it.

Its definitely a new problem. In the sense Ippo has never had to mentally overcome something pertaining to boxing. And mentally he still cant even admit he wants Kumi to anyone. Hes proven to wither up when it comes to that aspect of his life. Its the only card they had left to filler up this manga before they start world title runs for these characters.
