I really hope Kamogawa doesn’t go out Cus D’Amato style at this point, but I do feel he’s on borrowed time. Ippo has always been his pet project so I think his last goal in life is see him conquering the world stage and proving his “Guts” style of training works before the “big sleep” comes around.
Takamura is an auto-winner with raw natural talent so there wasn’t any doubt that he’d be a world champion. Deep down Takamura himself probably knows this but still feels indebted to coach for putting him on the right track and believing in him.

Naw, that happened to me a lot. You train and train and work on a certain technique and feel really really good. You try it out for real only to be humiliated. You just pick back up and keep going and overall you become a better fighter. That’s why fighters and martial artists that go through this are such good company because they get their ego checked. Getting up after getting beaten makes you a better person.
Ippo needs to take this L to make him realise he gotta cross that line.
Such a disappointment. Ippo out here looking like a rookie, a man who was formerly ranked number 7 in the world. Even if he picks up steam in the following chapters this is still evident he’s not ready.

Eh… I don’t know about that. I’ve always relied on my fundamentals from the get go and anything new was only when presented. It never works as well as you hope but I never got humiliated.
