Itās actually sad. Takamura cares a lot for the coach. A lot. If you remember, one of his previous fights was against someone who disrespected the coach. The dude hit the coach if I recall. That cut Takamura deep. Heāll never state it out right, but it does pain Takamura to see the coach even WORRIED about any of his boxers. Takamura wants the coach happy and keeping his head high. Itās the same reason why they did that panel with Ippo on the mat. Takamura is heavily against seeing the coach in pain or distraught about anything. Remember, Takamura isnāt just trying to collect belts for himself, heās also doing it to make the coach happy. Thatās why he said heāll keep on winning/bringing in belts.

I like how the chapter got Ippo back with some confidence but its not really a huge leap in technique since this has been boiling for a good while now, need a good heel in a tune up fight to get a fire lit under his ass again.
Ippo has his confidence back with the technique, but still lacking the necessary bloodthirstiness. Iām still trying to think of a believable scenario where he will activate the fury on a consistent basis.

That new Dempsey looks beautiful, but that line still needs crossing. I really love Morikawaās dynamic illustrations, he really knows how to show motion through anatomy.
We need to start seeing some story arcs wrapped up. Aoki and Kimura need to be finished, theyāve been contemplating retirement since the 90s. Manabu and Imai shouldnāt even exist, itās just a weak rehash of the Ippo VS Miyata storyline. Sendo needs to get wrecked by Martinez, and have his storyline come to a close. Itās that or he fights Ippo again and frankly I donāt want Sendo to go out 0-3 against Ippo to end his boxing career. Let him finish fighting the best. I wish Miyata would just stop showing up since heās clearly the authors favorite and any fight with him is a foregone conclusion. Gonzales is probably going to job to him, sad to say. At any rate itās time to start cutting off the excess flab in this manga, just what I listed is way too much, and I didnāt even cover Mashiba or Takamura. The only character thatās had a resolved story arc after 1100+ chapters is Volg.
