Chapter 1079

Takamura dishing out the truth.

[size=5]100% PURE REALNESS!!!

Ippo needs to evolve past the green eyes of determination. A stage where he was only concerned with proving he could box…

…and achieve the white eyes of savagery!

The question is, what will cause him to become unhinged and reach an attitude befitting a world champion?

He needs to get in touch with Vorg again. Mostly so we have more Vorg in the story.

Does the art style seem a little different to anyone else?

lol I know that is supposed to sound deep and shit, but it sounds like the worst type of sore loser and a 12 year old’s reasoning.

In the real world sometimes someone else is better or they have a better night than you. Constantly making excuses and never holding yourself accountable is what weak people do, and why the world is such a shitty mess now. Politicians and women are MASTERS of making excuses for their failures. When I look at those types of people, and we all have dealt with them, I don’t think “wow look at how wise and awesome these people are” I think “what fucking tools.” We’ve all competed, either in sports, professionally, or fighting games. We know plenty of those dudes that never admit they lost and make non-stop excuses.

Seth wrote a few articles on that, that’s straight up scrub mentality.

No, you admit you lost, you figure out why you lost, and then you admit realistically you can’t win every match. Daigo, Justin Wong, Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky the entire list of all time greats in every sport and field of competition around, nobody is invincible and never loses. But in HnI Takamura is God and can not lose and that is supposed to be “deep.”

lol sorry but I cracked up reading that. If I want deep philosophy I know where to find it. Even hack philosophy you can usually find and enjoy. But man, this was just funny to me.

I think you might be looking at the use of the word excuse wrong. The examples Takamura gave were “If only I hit him first here” or “If I could have somehow dodge that”. Those kinds of excuses are self reflective and it really is something everyone should do. If you lose a match in street fighter and at the end of it say you can’t give any reason that you lost then you have no real way of growing past your weak game.

You don’t make excuses in SF. You fucked up a combo or had bad strategy because you weren’t good enough, end of story. Takamura is saying that’s not how you should think, that instead you have to blame something else. Ippo basically did what you’re saying. In real life Ippo’s mentality works in competition because you know you’re lacking and then work harder to fix your flaws and train harder. But if you make an excuse, you’re basically saying you were better and don’t actually need to fix anything, the other person didn’t actually beat you. People who think like that usually don’t get better, they hit a wall and stay there.

It’s usually the people that know they aren’t good enough that work so much harder and overcome that.

Of course what would Takamura know about that. He’s never lost a match or been in real danger of losing ever. All he’s ever done is be God and shit all over everyone else. That guy is the absolute wrong guy to give any advice on how to handle losing. Should have been someone like Sendo or Date, heck this is the one area where Kamogawa actually could have given advice, because he lost way back too. Instead we get this half assed crap from the guy that never loses. In the event that Takamura lost, which I doubt would ever happen, I doubt he would handle the loss productively either. He would do something stupid instead.

Eh whatever, I don’t really care very much. I think it’s funny.

dat monster.

ippo needs to cross the line and bring out his orochi form.

I still think you are missing the point. At no point in this chapter did he say blame the other guy or outside sources. Again the examples that he gave as excuses were “If only I hit him first here” or “If I could have somehow dodge that” which fall in line with the same reasons you just gave. You don’t have to blame some one else for it to be an excuse. I can make it to work late on Monday, tell my boss I overslept, and that would be my excuse.

He’s just going to argue again anyway. If you think the person you lost to is just better than you, it’s time to quit. Because you’ll always be a pot monster. After all, if they’re JUST better than you, then there’s nothing to improve on. Without those excuses, you’re just showing up and trying hard, not out to win it all.

Basically, Ippo needs to transform into this:

And stay that way, and not have any regrets.

So wait we talking like we didnt know Ippo had to unleash the elephant? That is old, Ippos weak mind game is his only setback, nigga needs to take a deep breath and stop giving a fuck. Sendo overtook this guy just before Ippo had his world fight so yea, step up or hurry and hand the show to Itagaki. Wouldnt say no to some more Volg involvement either, stuff always gets better with a white man handing out counsel.

Chapter 1080: http://readms.com/r/hajime_no_ippo/1080/2630/1

Looks like we’re getting Sendo & Mashiba matches next chapter before Takamura’s fight.

Richard Bison huh… sure okay. I hope he at least takes Takamura to his limits, cuz I know he ain’t losing. Snore…

Yeesh, he’s like 10 weight classes below or something and still is so much slower. No wonder why he struggles so much in every fight, he’s moving in slow motion. I would expect Martinez is actually faster than Takamura.

Takamura calling this match “stupid shit” lol, this is properly just gonna be another lesson for Ippo, Bison RIP by round 2.

Looking forward to seeing Sendo in action.
