I hope Umezawa speaks to kamogawa or one of the crew about Ippoās behavior. This most definitely can be a problem if he does not change up his style. Kamogawa is all about guts and pushing forward, but at the same time he doesnāt seem to have too many ways adapt to the opponent and fight smarter. Its like they almost skipped him being punch drunk (though early on they hinted on that with Takamura).
Kamogawa needs to sit Ippo down and have a long chat with him and see where his heads at, anymore beatdowns it looks like Ippo will have a job on the boat as one of those tyres they tie to the side so it doesnt fuck up the paintwork.
Actually Kamogawa should probably get some coaching himself, this guy comming off as nothing but evil at this point, he grew up a bad ass with natural skills, Takamura was the same so it makes sense Kamogawa trains him to be multiple world champion and soon to be God ender of all life. Ippo? Poor nigga had nothing going for him except for John Holmes dick and a great set of legs. No natural ferocity, no talent, jack shit. I would like to see Kamogawa and Shinoda switch on Ippo and Itagaki, it would at the least be interesting.
Ippo needs to do some cross training, if not outside the gym at least in it.
I canāt believe Morikawa is taking the story to this direction, which is, albeit realistic, but still! Pugilistic dementia is a career ender, even in its infancy. I wonder if due to Morikawaās recent bouts of illness has caused him to curb the story in this depressing direction? Is Ippo going to suddenly dig deep and reach some ascended level of boxing (i.e. actual defense/ dodging + RAGE/ HUNGER!) then go supernova and die? Ippo is an ignoramous and hard headed, so Iām sure he wonāt reveal his issues until Ume notifies the Kamogawa camp.
Canāt help feeling sorry for the kid, and coach Kamogawa will probably feel like shit that heās putting his star pupil in the same position as his best friend.

Iāve never seen Ippo hold the mitts. I can say with experience however that holding the mitts, especially for someone that is talented, will increase your own ability considerably. If by assist Kamogawa is telling Ippo to hold mitts for Takamura it would actually help him.
Except the other issue is Ippo is so much smaller. But then Kamogawa is even smaller and I assume he mitt trains Takamura without issue so that shouldnāt be a problem.
In fact if Ippo could no longer box and started to take over Kamogawaās duties it would probably be better storyline wise than whatever weāre going to actually get.
