I’d rather them not spend too much of those episodes building up to this particular fight, so I’m ok with this. This fight should be over by next episode, with time to foreshadow whatever is coming next.
Little bummed out they skipped the Weigh in since it was pretty funny, but I can understand why they have to skip shit when they only have 25 episodes.
Believe it or not, slow paced relationships like Ippo’s is not that uncommon in Japan. Just remember how long it is in the manga’s timeline, not in our time.
please ippo timeline he’s been with that girl for years now. It may go slower than our own…but he’s legit been at the gym for years. At the least 5 years…at the most 10. he isnt saul alverez who sped his way to a super fight.
Correct me if I’m wrong but don’t pro boxers on Ippo’s level only have 2 or 3 fights a year? He defended his title 8 times and in addition of beating three other national champions. I have that enough time has pasted in universe for his relationship with Kumi to take a couple of levels.
Name a remotely similar manga were the main character levels up there relationship or gtfo. Honestly, you should know this is the standard for J-land fighting/sports manga. Even if Ippo should have 5 plus years in the ring, he’s not even kissing her 'till the end (a fight with his true love rival Miyata).
Ippo would instantly become a dad and a mentoring coach (following a time skip) if he did anything with Kumi, and I don’t want this to become the Itagaki show.
More like 4-5 for the first couple years. If you stay healthy and are considered a special talent, you get a fight every 2 months for a couple years against guys for ring time and skills building. They won’t be awful fighters, but they’ll be guys to test you.
We’re just kind of tired of seeing him stay such a puss outside of the ring. For all the character development that happened as he was becoming a boxer, none of this translated to outside the ring relationships like this. Makes no sense.
Y’all got it twisted. Future chapters will have Ippo go to Mexico for a championship bout. It will then be revealed that Ippo has a thing for Mexican women. He will then fall in love with a woman who happens to be the trainer of his Mexican rival.
