No way in hell a top rank undefeated middleweight can’t smash a featherweight. If Takamura was some bum in the middleweight division then I would take Martinez. We talking about top of middleweight vs top of featherweight. Not only that, but Takamura shouldn’t even be fighting at middle weight dude really is a light heavyweight.

It was written in one of the chapters a few years ago as an author’s note. Takamura 1, Martinez 2, I think Miyata was 3 or something like that, and Ippo was 8th I think.
I feel like we’re in a position, story-wise, where Ippo kind of has to start steamrolling people. I mean, think about way back when he sparred with Ricardo. He beat Ippo without trying. He didn’t even do any fancy-shmancy special bull to beat the Dempsey Roll; he just timed it and jabbed Ippo out of it. I feel like we’re at a point where Ippo’s done everything he can to beat Japan, it’s a matter of changing as he faces what the rest of the world has to offer.
I know that this will turn into another “Ippo fight” (Ippo gets knocked around for 3-5 rounds then all of a sudden pulls some magic shit), but I’m hoping I’m pleasantly surprised by a complete and utter beatdown by Ippo.
