Warahk! My good friend. Your Viper matchup needs moar f+mk or b+mk! no joke, being able to hop kick over seismos really helps the matchup. it’s a great tool to travel around the screen without worrying about eating a seismo. Me and Alexman get our fair share of games in, and whenever we do, it works wonders. He hates it

as for Shady, well uh…

im sure you havent heard this before…

don’t get knocked down :stuck_out_tongue: *sarcasm

on the other hand, i try to guess right on when he wants to st.rh and try to beat him early with cr.mp or st.fp.

it sounds like we play almost identically.

hey man hows it going, thanks for the tips.

I played way too defensively against crizzle, its tough playing against viper in tournaments because i want to play safe, but you cant play safe against viper. In casuals i do great against vipers, but i dont want to risk anything in tournaments, this is currently my biggest problem i think, being afraid to take risks. I think guile beats viper by bombarding her with normals. jump back roundhouse is sick too

As for shady that match was just hard, I thought i did well the second match, i actually felt like i was going to take it

I ultra’d for no reason at the end, just didnt want to have to guess right 6 times just to reset position. Akuma is broken in this match

There is nothing wrong with not wanting to take risks. Guile is by design, a very low risk type character.

Against Viper you have to let her hang herself. Most of her stuff is actually quite unsafe and she moves in a very predicable manner once you understand the flame kick trajectories. All you have to do is punish accordingly and boom if she doesn’t want to come.

Oh man, 1:54 is mad wicked

godlike lol

That’s actually hard to do against the low jumpers. I always mis time it with the ultra. Definately easier to do with short FK super.

I watched godsgarden last night and Yazu was in it. He got taken out by Uryo and MaedaTyson in the actual tourney. After it was over they did “concept matches”. One of the requests was to have Yazu vs. Yoshiwo. They also did another Yazu vs. Maeda. Yazu won this time. I like how he builds up super meter to punish blocked jab dash straights. It’s a great technique that I like to use.

Hey Gilley, if you dont mind. who else did Yazu fight, and what matches did he win?

Thanks.

thanks dagger, what is unsafe though? when you say punish accordingly are you talking about burning kicks? sometimes it feels like viper can put burning kick anywhere she wants

Apologies if this has been posted before: http://zoome.jp/sf4_esaka_navel/diary/80/
This player, ug2, has a really adaptive Guile. He fights Wao (a really good Ken player) and a Boxer at the end of the vid ('08 standing MK anti-air in round 1, I ain’t seen that in a while).

Yazu (GU) vs Uryo (VI)

thank you for posting this tip. i’ve just been in a match with a viper and i was victorious…mainly because i read this by chance about 5 mins before i played them. it works like a charm.

Yazu is very solid. He seems to know the Viper Matchup extremely well, as he managed to read the mixups. I like his style better than Yoshiwo’s. Yoshiwo rarely doesnt use the focus attack, but at least Yazu uses it effectively. Fujisawa, loves to use it on opponents wake up and then backdash to bait SRK’s for instance.

**That Viper was making mistakes left and right, but Guile could only punish her with single normals instead of a combo or a knockdown > mixup. Even with all those mistakes, Viper still took the win.
That’s why i hate Viper matchups myself. Vipers frame advantage on block , mixups are damn near impossible to counter offline let alone online. I do like to knee / sabot to move around but once you get within 1/2 screen; its Viper time with burning kick mixups, T knuckle /overhead/ thow mixups. I also blame her misleading hitbox.

Right now I’m having the hardest time against rushdown, mixup Abel & Viper’s bc I haven’t played many solid players, so I don’t know the matchup as well as I should.

dang yazu is so solid

Agreed. in most Yoshiwo matches, he usually ends up in the corner and then tries to ‘escape’, thats because he is too defensive, whereas, Yazu, is always in the middle of the screen, because not only does he play a defensive game, he also ‘stands his ground’ and goes offensive trying not to get pushed back.

Fujisawa, on the other hand, is a flashy Guile, he performs lots of Guile’s trickery and what not, very entertaining, but lacks the zoning and discipline that Yazu has.

just my opinion. anyone should please feel free to agree or disagree.

That match between Yazu and Yoshiwo…it’s no Muteki vs Kurahashi but it was entertaining nonetheless because of the crowd. It was just a matter of the winner (Yazu) making a right gamble and standing on a life lead. Side question: Is EX Flashkick against a mid-range opponent peppering you with fireballs worth the damage and knockdown? I feel like I should take advantage of EX FK’s range.

Me vs. Abel. I love playing offline. No lag.
