The Guile Video thread

this match showed me that i must use more cr.mk against ryu.

i need to work out when to throw out cr.mp as an anti air too. i’ve seen geom modinside do this a lot against ryu. does cr.mp beat his j.hp? and is that the reason to use it there?

Let’s just hope Capcom isn’t reading the Guile thread in the ssf4 forums. From reading that thread, you would think Guile is already top tier. If Capcom is reading that thread, get ready to switch to a new main in ssf4. I’ve already come to the realization that I’m going to have to use someone else for ssf4, preferrably a non-charge type character(Adon, Gouken, Juri looking reaaal good about now). Charge characters just don’t work well in the SF4 engine compared to the rolling command characters.

sigh…and Capcom has already given Sagat a new special in ssf4. I’m scared for Guile.

This video is depressing…

Every time I play a non-charge character, I feel like the game really opens up. It’s such a fucking shame.

I’m really interested in all of the Alpha additions - love Alpha.

Depressing indeed. If Yoshi get’s his FK stuffed like that, it’s not the player!

I’ve always been using charge characters, to the point where I’m very shitty at no-charge execution. I mean, simple things like SRK are tough for me and I tend to grind the bloody gate. Practice would fix that, sure…but I’m a bit old to change my ways. Fact is, I like charge characters (I went from Guile to Blanka to Charlie to Rog to Honda to Guile again between SF2T and now) and I like Guile.

As I’m not competitive, I’ll most likely stick with Guile…unless Mr. Nash shows up and Capcom doesn’t mess him up like they have Guile.
But I understand your point. The engine isn’t designed around chargers and it’s become very obvious lately, as people have become much better at the game.
Miss a combo up in front of Ryu, Ken or Sagat and you’re left with a pixel of health. Do it in front of Guile and the most a Guile can take off without a Super is what…280Dmg…not much more then that on a regular basis…
FK recovery is idiotically slow…to the point where most decent Guiles only use it on punish or a really projected jump. I don’t remember the last time I’ve tried using FK against a jump-in. The fear of getting it stuffed it is too great to offset the damage.
Miss an SRK or a Tiger Knee and you’re not open for seconds…only moments.

BTW, what’s Sagats new special? 12 more ways of landing an Ultra? :stuck_out_tongue:

Sagat’s new special is a his Tiger Charge (Angry Charge?) from Alpha 3. He holds his scar(with some invincibility) and his next TU does more (2x?) damage. And no offense intended ExtraDas, but man up. I am nearly 78 years old and I am learning Gen and Viper now. Just kidding, but still…

I’m somewhat in the same boat with rolling execution which is why I play with charge characters. As of late, I have been practicing with QTC characters just to get the moves down pat for SSFIV. I believe Gilley is going to be right about having to main someone else. Sad stuff.

I really wonder what goes on in the minds of the developers when it comes to Guile…

Guys! This is crazy! Give up Guile if you want to, but don’t do it because non-chargers have it easier! If you can’t play with who you want to play with, why play at all? I want to leave him behind too sometimes, but then I get to the character select screen and get stuck. I play randoms and no one feels right. I refuse to put on the white gi; thats who I learned the game with…back in 1991! I’d rather lose on my terms than win with compromise.

And Gilley, you can’t switch mains…Guile is your goddamn namesake!

Here’s the way I look at it. In MvC2(or the marvel games in general), it’s retarded to pick a Capcom character over a Marvel character. The Marvel characters are at such an advantage in that game. I realized this early on. Why pick Guile(or Ryu) in MvC2 and throw a SB, when Ironman has a beam that will eat up that SB and hit Guile for an extra 6 hits. The Marvel characters just work better. That’s why my team from the beginning was Ironman/Sentinel/DrDoom.

I am known to pick other characters beside Guile you know

Well, in Marvel, yeah. Pick the cheapest dudes you can.

I do know…did you ever make a crazy Gouken combo video? I’d like to use him and Gen; old karate guys are awesome.

Yeeeeaaah Blue Moon is amazing. I like Hoegarden too.

Most of you probably already know how to do this but JUST in case there is anyone who doesn’t know how to properly execute Guile’s dash into Super or dash into Ultra I just made a video explaining how to do it and showing examples. Hope this helps those who need it. I hadn’t seen one on youtube of anyone explaining it so I took a stab. Enjoy guys.

FINALLY a visual on how to do the damn thing. thanks!

No problem man. Glad it helped.

Good shit. Hope you come to Final Round

I already have it marked on my calendar. I’ll be there trying to hold it down for Guile.

nicely down bro. You really explained it well keep it up

I only use this against fireballers, so although the FADC to ultra is a good trick to learn it has limited applications.

Nice vid for those who are having problems doing it. I read the top few comments regarding the backdash ultra. Dagger G posted a while back (and has also done it in a match) vs Blanka if they are trying to chip you to death, you can focus absorb the first hit of the ultra, backdash and then ultra to punish the ultra Blanka ball.

Thanks man. Thanks for watching.

Never thought about that. That is a good way to deal with Blankas chip damage. Thanks for watching the vid to man.

Not sure if this was posted, searched for adachi but found nothing.

Its a 2v2 tournament where Mago teamed up with Yoshio.

Here are Yoshio’s matches:

They made it to the quarter finals, had very winnable games but in the end lost by a sliver. They got peaced out by a Sagat and Blanka team.

I highly recommend watching Mago’s vids as well, he plays in the 2v2 with Yoshio as well as in the exhibition 5v5, amazing player.
