TRF 11/27

2:35 Yoshio vs Rufus

5:20 Yoshio vs Chun Li
19:45 Yoshio vs MASATSUGU

11:50 Finals: Yoshio vs Sim

Tough matchup, especially with Yoshio’s style of play.

I dont face many Sims but if that’s the only way to fight top Sims I’d rather not even waste my time on that, hella boring…

thx for the links!

It’s not. He could have safe umjumped and did a j.lp. It doesn’t look like Yoshi plays this matchup ofteb.

Check this one out…

@ 2:17, that is poetry in motion. I had to watch it like 10 times. That, I have to say, was sexy as hell!

Can anyone confirm if standing jab to crouching strong is 1 frame link?

2 frame link

thats why you can s.jab into s.fierce and not c.jab into s.fierce unless its on ch

you know about this
i remember combo’ing a bunch of low jab links into STANDING back fierce awhile back at AI
not kidding
im pretty sure once jabs get into max range
you can link standing back fierce
its either distance dependant or character
someone figure it out
i aint got console

c.jab is +4 on hit with 2 active frames. This +4 is assuming you hit on the 1st active frame. If you get c.jab to hit on the 2nd active frame it then becomes +5. Far s.fierce has 5 frames of startup so this is theoretically possible. It’s probably character specific.

here is my two recent sets i had:

Any tips?

Watching the Zangief ones: So far, utilize your forward air-throw better to increase the range between you and Zangief. Also, punish whiffed lariats. You have astronomical amounts of time to do so, and it looked like you were just whiffing c.mp’s trying to hit him, just go for the sweep. If it’s clear you can’t land what you’re trying to land, at -least- hit him with a sweep for free damage.

I think that’s really a key part of improving: you did well with keeping him out, but when he made very large mistakes like whiffing lariats or you blocking a green hand, you didn’t do much to put the hurt on. Same thing with anti-airs, he’s jumping all around you and you’re spamming c.lp, that might stop a throw once he lands but it’s not going to stop him body slamming you from above.

I know you probably don’t have a scene or something where you live, but my biggest tip is stop playing online, lol. I don’t like to touch the stuff, even with my local friends where we all get green bars with each other. Messes with my timing and creates bad habits.

Back to your match.

Kich pretty much did a good job covering what you need to improve on. Another good thing for punishing whiffed lariats is the backhand. More range than cr.hk and faster than the step kick. Just need to make sure you time it right and do it right when Gief is done spinning, but hasn’t fully recovered from the lariat.

Also, you throw the most cr.mp’s I’ve ever seen. I don’t know why, maybe I don’t utilize it enough, but I really think you should substitute that for cr.forward and space yourself out further.

About the random super, don’t ask. More vids once I upload em.

Looked like you went for a FK > FADC? Anywho, you put a stomping on that Rufus (plus we share a color scheme!).

Thanks once again guys for the tip. I throw out the medium punch alof because most ken/heirs I play like to do the forward kick and I know once they do that are open alil bit for me to get them. The sweep I hardly use because back when I started to play with guile I was spaming it. So now that I got the spamming out my system I just need to know when to use it. But thanks for the tip. Also did u notice that after I got the bnb combo I was able to sneak a cr mp afterwards? It didn’t register as a 3 hit combo though.

Here are a few more matches from thursday.

Hell of a good Guile you have there Slinkun.

has anyone watched these matches on the iphone using the nico video app? it’s soooo choppy. is it just me? or is it like that for everyone since we are in the states and what not.

nice stuff slinkun you have a pretty solid guile man… i finally got access to the internet at my hotel in Sangenjaya…i had a couple of a games at an arcade in Shinjuku at 100 yen per game…played a Ryu a couple of times and racked up two wins but he was intermediate at best… did not get on the receiving end of cross up tatsu`s or ambigious cross ups and i was actually expecting every japanese ryu player to use these…but it never happened

there was hardly anybody around other than 3 people but at least i have gained some experience playing in japan, and the joysticks are no different to what i use in Australia.

This is the first and last time i will be playing sf4 in Japan for a while, so unfortunately i may not have any opportunity to have any casual sets with you. My GF will kill me if i wondered off and did my own thing lol…besides its not difficult for me to find my way around

Lucky for me i never ran into shiro, mago, daigo or any of the big names otherwise I know what i am in for :wasted:

Aw, really man? If you go to any one place you should go to freeplay night in shibuya on thursdays or a TRF on friday. If you go to shibuya, you could just drop off your wife at the 109 building… women like shopping, right?

Slinkun, I’m planning to do some solo traveling to Japan for some filming / SF training. I’ll be staying at the Yokota air base, so any advice on arcades and getting around?
