I agree, I’ve definitely learned the most by watching Yoshio. Although he doesn’t win as much as I think he’s capable of, I think he has a solid gameplan. Like you said, I also think he’s the closest to a Guile Sagat killer as it gets. Fujisawa has a very entertaining Guile, but I don’t remember ever seeing him take down a reputable Sagat.
I wish there was more videos of Yazu, from the short amount of clips I’ve seen from him, he’s the only Guile that might top Yoshio in terms of zoning.
Online sfiv is definitely NOT unplayable. But it also definitely is NOT suited for advanced level competition.
Whether or not it is a shitpile is completely subjective. I think it depends on how much you rely on links. Obviously the better you become, the more you rely on links and probably are more likely to cry “OMG LAGYARZ”. Inconsistent frame rate doesn’t help either. But for the most part I don’t really mind too much because I win most of the time
Let’s keep this Guile video train rolling with some Team Battles!
We got a couple of Furansujins…
vs Dictator (TUC)
vs Akuma (Tokido)
followed by some Yoshiwo…
vs Sagat (Hiro Boy)
vs Akuma (Yuu)
topped off by a Fujisawa!
vs Blanka (Spanky)
Negative, but I’ve seen them before. The way only I know their names other than the regulars (Yoshio, Fujisawa, Yazu) is when vids get posted on youtube and their names are posted as well.
Hey my fellow guile mains, i just switched to guile as my main after manning akuma for a while. Well i figure i need a lot of improvement with my character and you guys could give me good feed back as to how to make my guile stronger cause right now hes weak. um i added a link to one of my matches i recorded so u all can give me feed backs…
Opt the roundhouse sweep for Crouching medium kick or also make better use of some of Guiles pokes like standing fierce punch, spin fist and the standing roundhouse.
Flash kicks should be used sparingly as a wiff and Guiles recover time can cost you big time opt for a Couching fierce punch, sanding medium or if they jump in from a little further back a standing medium kick. I’m nt saying not to use the flash kick ex version definately has its uses, but with time you will get the feel for the character and pretty much know when and when not.
This is just from what I seen and learned from the guys here.
I’m a better observer than a player.
Here is one of me in a g1 championship yeah sticking out the crouching roundhouse and a foot in my mouth.
Not bad. You played better in round 2 and 3 (I gather you were warming up in round 1, everyone has to - not a problem)
Try not to use Cr. RH so much (at higher levels, your opponnent WILL start punishing that move). It’s fine every now and then but it leaves you open so much - plus Guile has better pokes (like cr. MK or MP - both of which can be cancelled into flash kick, dealing around 200 dmg - that’s around 1/5th of your opponents life)
Also note that Crouching low punch (cr.lp) can be linked into flash kick. I noticed you pulled off a few cr. lp combos, which is good. But I’d add in a flash kick or SB after - that way you’ll put a hurting on your opponent big time.
Another thing is: If you’ve blocked a dragon punch or he’s whiffed it, cr. MP then flash kick. Your opponent is wide open to punishment if he whiffs or you block this move.
Finally, keep practicing his Sonic booms; these can really help you out a lot and you’ll want to fire them as fast as you can. And follow them up; if he blocks the SB and you’re close, go in for a throw. If he gets hit by it and you’re close throw or attack - do anything, just make sure you keep the pressure on him.
Just a note in general with Guile (and what I have learnt): if you get an opening, make it hurt. If he whiffs a move, punish him - deal out as much damage as you can. Really try and maximise your damage here (with whatever move you want really). Then back off (incase he has ultra or does his Dragon punch or hurricane kick).
Hey Syngin if you are reading this, good game during lunchtime today. A shame I had to be back at the office :)… you zoning was supreme against my boxer and I found it difficult to close you down and you were in full control.
Clearly you are one of the best Guile’s I’ve played against to date.
About the vid: when he AA ryu with cr.HP then he hit him with cr.HK as he comes down is that 100% safe? Or it’s just ryu not blocking low? If it’s a guaranteed hit then everytime I AA with cr.HP I can score a free knowdown.
Here’s some vids of me at the local Ranbats. Any advice would be helpful, especially on the Zangief match. I’m getting absolutely murdered by him and haven’t figured out my way around this particular player. Also, I know I throw out way more c.rh than I should, but let me point out how many times I actually get punished on it…not very many. Thanks for any advice!
