Whats up with all the jumping in round 1? Were you trying to Airthrow Vega’s wall dive? And while FA’ing through wall dive works sometimes better Vegas will just Izuna Drop you out of it. You should also incorporate a little more tick throws into your game as well, that 1 back throw into the corner will make your life easy
Eh, I’d say dictator is easier on average, but claw is definately a close second.
Be wary though, there are claws who have really great steering skills that work GREAT against guile. My secondary is claw, so I know a bit about him… about how walldives generally suck, what have you. About 3-4 months ago I got caught really off guard by a random claw player in a Yokohama arcade. I had never played a claw who completely shut down my walldive counters. C.hp, air throw, j.hk, j.hp, FA > dash… the guy had an answer for everything it seemed. One benefit to the guy was that he was a master at hitting izuna drop consitently, which is a mark that many claws seem to miss.
It seemed in a situation like this, the best option seemed to be an early jump back hk > land > EX boom if the time was right.
Slinkun have you entered any TRF’s?
On the topic, I have played some Claw players at a BAM (Battle Arena Melbourne) tournament in my part of town during some casual sets prior to the main event. I noted that If he does a walldive and he is directly above you, he will land the throw.
He also used the EX barcelona attack to good effect especially when I went dashing in after a LP sonic boom, given that this will go through fireballs and I got tagged while I was dashing. Now I feel that I just have to walk forward just in case he does this. I am also quite surprised that his rolling attack is WAY underused, even by the good claw players that I have played against.
Overall Claw is only tricky if you don’t really understand the matchup, and most of us here will know this one pretty well I must say. Furthermore, I seem to catch their wall dive with the EX flash kick if it is an attempted cross up, but if they are above me I end up getting a suplex
Hp and EX roll is pretty easy to see coming as long as your looking for it. It’s pretty easy to flashkick on reaction if you have a charge. I’ve also heard that sometimes the roll gets spaced strange and the can be a one frame gap inbetween the last hit of the physical roll and the claw strike at the end, meaning you could sneak an ultra or EX flashkick in there. I’ve never actually seen or tested this though… I’ve just heard about it.
To Warahk: Nope. I normally run into issues because I live pretty far away from where TRF takes place. I plan on going to plenty once I come back from underway (I’m out again for a couple months, =) Anyways, Ohayo 1234 has a recent video of me in a team tourney in Shibuya. I was getting beasted by a 'gat all night and during the tourney I won from a pretty sweet double KO. I’ll try to get him to post that video.
few videos
I found these vids. Fuson909 gets 8th. Flawless game vs sagat but 1 mistake and 60% health gone. :wasted:
Fuson posted these here that day.
ohhh, sry, did not know
did anyone watch these? i watched them and thought that i do some weird ass shit i probably shouldnt do but i really dont think, i just dance when im in the fight. This is the only video of me playing online that i didnt even put up so i’d like to get some feedback from you guys. would be appreciated.
I totally watched them when you first put them up, but I didn’t comment because you play similar to me (except I don’t focus and I can’t link) and I don’t know that I would have done anything different. Plus I don’t know about you, but during long sets I end up playing as much for fun as to win, so I try stuff I might not otherwise.
Maybe some of the experts can give you detailed feedback, but in my eyes you handled JR about as well as you could have in a casual match.
thanks Opinionhaver it sucks that i can tell i fuck up when i watch the video. When i see Yoshiwo or Fuson videos they do their shit perfect and everything seems calculated, I jump around all kinds, my bazooka knee gets punished cause i just do it without thinking except that it might be tricky but i eat shit lol. Mostly i need execution practice even though i practice that all the time and i still mess up. I dont know how they do it. But yeah JR is tough as shit i could never beat him at 3rd strike, he’d beat the shit out of my Remy which i think was probably better than my Guile now . Akuma in sf4 takes a lot of damage and probably mostly the reason i beat him at all. he’s super succeptible to air grabs so that helps too haha. but yeah thanks for commenting mang.
Ah, dang.
Yeah i would like to see the video, i wish i was in japan…
Don’t sell yourself short, Aero; you’ve got a badass Guile. Execution or not, Yoshiwo and Fuson lose their share, but remember when you watch their videos, they aren’t playing online.
yeah, online play makes me rage… i plan on canceling my xbl this month and sticking to training mode and live play. Guile is meant to be played on reaction, doing things like flashkicking hadoukens seems much harder for me online.
You improved in your subsequent matches, and that akuma was pretty darn good too. One thing to remember as Guile, your EX Sb recovery is crap so you have to pick your moments carefully when you use that move (I myself either use it when he’s full screen or if he’s running towards me; cus if he dodges or I miss, he gets a free combo :().
I don’t use fadc at all in my matches (I prefer using meter for EX and that’s it) so cannot comment on your usage of it. And I don’t use his ultra either but you got it on him a few times.
What you did good and what I personally learnt from your videos was back fierce punch after SB - I’d always do st. fp > sb but never follow up, didn’t know st. fp would come out so fast after it (so a lesson learnt!). Your throwing was good too - I hardly ever throw (unless it’s in the air, or they blocked sb etc) but yours was spot on.
The thing with akuma is yeah he has low hp, but his combos hurt. Dive kick > hurricane > Dp takes a good chunk off your hp. So you gotta watch out for his set ups (tho, he’s pretty vulnerable in the air when he does hits).
His ultra is pretty powerful, but it’s not invincible: if he does it from far and you’re on the ground, you can sb him out of it.
Lastly, and I say this to myself more than you, don’t be afraid to block against akuma: especially block his Dp and you get a free cr, mp > fk (that’s what 250 dmg?).
p.s; don’t worry bout not getting your moves out. Half of my Sbs come out as standing punch and cost me rounds online. Crap happens like that.
Didn’t know where to put this (its not a video as such) here seemed the best place for it, sorry I don’t come to this thread much (Chun main as you can tell) used to main Guile in the old, OLD days (long before SF4) and still use him as a pretty scrubby alt…
Anyway found this guys site (it might be old and you guys might know it already)but this guy is serious with Guile, really nice control of spacing, aggression, normals and well most things, so I thought you might like it (I know I do)
tight. thanks. i gotta play at the arcade more myself i just have to drive a lot so it’s weak. Plus just getting out there in general would help because i learn from playing individual people how to beat them in particular. So many styles. I have a bunch of matches from a capture card that i havent cut up and posted, but i got some good shit. ill start to post some sooner or later. thanks again.
oohh and Pakman a good way i use FADC is after throwing them over your shoulder, while waiting for them to wake up, you throw a lp Sonic Boom and dash cancel toward them, then jump at them with a mk, then target combo. mostly theyll block but youll hit the overhead and theyll feel pressured.
oh shit here go some more. I lose the first 2 and win the last one. I like the last round. I remember winning 3 times in a row and the last match being the first of those three

and pakman at 4:25 is what i mean except i didnt FADC into it because he was in the corner, but if you do FADC the boom when after the throw mid-screen its almost as if theyre in the corner when you go for your block string
Yeah, this can’t be re-iterated enough. Online play is garbage! It’s a completely different game. Guile can’t use his c.fierce anti-air on anything but 5 bars. Even then it still sucks. It trades in 3-4 bars all day long. Because it trades all day, people still jump in at Guile cause alot of times, they’ll win on damage in the trade. Offline, after I hit someone w/ 2 c.fierces in a row clean, the jumps stop. What amazes me is how good some people can play online through the lag. I play the game very reactionary and visually. I guess that’s why I suck online. I get so many people wanting to challenge my Guile online after I beat them in CE mode. What’s the point? it’s online…you’re not seeing how I really play.
Just last night I was playing vs. a gief and I threw out at backfist that wiffed cause he was just a little too far away. Somehow he grabbed me with an SPD during my recovery. SPD doest not have that much range. He was so far away from me when he grabbed me.
Also WTF is up with people blocking your jump-in and then immediately doing a DP to hit your next attack? That shit does NOT work offline. I like to jump in with roundhouse then do c.forward to the overhead sometimes and people will DP before the c.forward hits. Stupid lag tactics, all you can do is laugh and shrug it off. Don’t let it make you rage.
I’m seriously going to start recording these matches just so I can go back and see WTF just happened.
If Guile has any lag tactics, I sure wish I knew them. Even if he could mash out a FK as easily as a DP, it’d still get beat since it’s so much crap.
BTW, Gilley, I challenge your Guile to a match online!:bgrin:
