Yeah im JUST starting to abuse standing fierce. It’s a godly poke but i’ve had trouble utilizing it. When it combos into itself it sounds/looks great

No Guile here; move along.

Does anyone have or have seen vids of ‘Yazu?’ He, in addition to Yoshio, are currently the only SBO qualified Guile players.

Any idea who this mystery player is? :stuck_out_tongue: Very curious

not sure if any of you has seen this yet as this was posted up on the HK psn store:

2009 SF4 Asia Tournament Final - Hong Kong vs Korea
The korean player is poongko (Ryu) and the HK finalist, hui koon-ho mains our ol’ flat-top and gave poongko a run for his money

note the end of round 1 (1:55) when poongko DPs hui out of his Ultra. i cry…BS!!! :lovin:

Any more vids of the HK finalist? It seemed poongko was pretty comfortable even though he lost one round. He gets careless with his jumpins but his rush down is still fun to watch.

Poongko beasted that Guile in the corner. Poor guy…

unfortunately not; but apparently he is known as a the “guile-god” in HK. Poongko is insane aggro… he plays like a mad-bull on crack.

Such a mad dog way of play just show so much impatience. I’ve never been a fan of Poongko, because he doesn’t appear to be thinking. Just rushing foward hoping he hits something. Such aggressive Ryu play can spell problems for Guile. You can play against a pretty refined and text book Ryu. But a Ryu who is so linearly aggressive. It appears Ryu can so get away with doing this. That Guile was nice, but his defense and spacing was definitely lacking. Not that I would ever make it far in an Asian tournament or anything. Just a playing Monday morning quarter back.

That video was fun to watch. Sure hated to see that poor Guile eat Hurricane Kicks in response to his booms so often though. :frowning:

Ryu is so hard. That guile was impressive, but poongko’s pressure was too much :(. Ryu can afford to be randomly aggressive in this match up because of his damage, life, and stun advantages. Oh and the superior speed of his normals. c.lp, c.mp, c.mk etc.

I think at mid-full screen its pretty even, but in close quarters i think this match up is like 8-2 ryu lol.

Nah, I think if that were the cast, then most Ryu's would just absorb anti air damage from Guile just to get in close. I think there is a limitation to the way Poongko plays Ryu. He obviously doesn't think very often. He just want to overwhelm his opponent. This guy had a solid Guile, and probably had really good mind games. But I don't think he expected Poongko to be so reckless and careless, It's pretty obvious that this guy was just really annoyed, because Poongko just refuse to stop moving forward and throwing shit out. And you can see that this guy really felt he got hit with a lot of bullshit, which he did. I think if they met again, this guy would be more prepared for Poongko.

I know I get annoyed when I fight scrubby Ryu who do random shit and do random jump ins. It’s obvious they do this to compensate for their poor grasp of spacing and fundamentals, and they don’t respect certain distances because they hate having to play footsies. I think this guy should have remained calm, waited for Poongkos inevitable dumb move, and punished accordingly. Ryu is a beast up close, but reversal flashkick keeps him honest, and Poongko ate quite a few of those.

It sucks that Guile just cant dish out damage even if you land a clean hit, I admit he has some good combos but they are not nearly as easy or reliable to pull off during the heat of the battle.

On eventhubs one of guiles pros is high damage combos. This has always confused me. Who exactly are they comparing him to? Viper? Ryu? Rufus? Bison? Sagat? Honda? Who?

j.hk, c.mp, hk.fk seems to do hella good damage for a three hitter, as compared to others. I don’t know the exact numbers though.

But without jump-in… I don’t see where that statement comes from…

I think Bison’s j.hp, s.hp, hp.psycho crusher does more damage than guile’s j.hk, c.mp, hk.fk.

K, I didn’t know you and Fusion were the same person…now I feel embarrased, I thought you were just some forum troll talkin crap like Calisean and Ramza did for no reason, probally just wanteded to see me get mad by attacking me like that cause they thought it was funny and yet I dont even know them.

Bison’s also in the air for three weeks while jumping in to do this.
