sadly I don’t have access to the game right now so I can’t test it. I’m still rather doubtful about this. Just makes no real sense. and yes, it’s a generic mechanism. look at the manual, dan’s tutorial or wherever.
Zukuu, Guile’s alpha counter seems to be bugged or something. He can do it without pressing forward.
Of course i am going to point it out when you are wrong. And it looks to me that even after pointing it out you still don’t believe us. If you don’t trust the information on the forum, why are you even here? You don’t even have access to the game yet you deny day -15 common guile knowledge?

nothing to do with “not believing”, I simply want to test it out and play around with it regardless. maybe other characters can do this as well, or it has certain conditions. What if I tell you that you can do ryu’s launcher with LP+HP for some reason. you’d want to test it yourself to see if it works.
that’s what I think so far. that it is indeed a bug or unique to charge characters for whatever reasons. Gonna test it when I get my box back or get a used ps3 copy of the game before that.

And if you were to say to say LP+HP = launcher i would question how i am able to use ryu’s tripple button, as launcher higher priority than normals. If i were to lack knowledge about the game such as yourself, i would read the ryu thread instead of saying you were wrong.
I’ve already tested this. Guile’s the only character who can alpha counter by just pressing hp+hk. I’ve posted about this a few weeks back.
is anyone else having hella problems against Vega? he seems to out poke me every time and since there’s no FA I can’t really punish his wall dive shenanigans… I’d hit the lab but I’m really garbage with Vega

You don’t need to be good with a character practice those two things.
Recrod wall dive into his splash and try stuff to beat it!
Record him doing whatever poke is getting you and figure out spacing and potential counters.
it’s not like you are asking to counter some specific 8 hit block string or setup is it?
I can’t seem to record air to air izuna drop correctly …
He would izuna me if I tried to airgrab him out.

Sorry fella, I’m not sure you can as the inputs for the drop will depend on when he’s near guile. I thought you could do training mode online - if so ask a mate to do it with you.
thanks bro… I dont like asking questions on SRK because people start flame wars. I found this bug a couple days ago and I wasn’t sure why his counter is like that. It is really cool for using against jump ins when i lose my down charge and dont have time to AA with a normal. Anyway see you at evo buddy
I played a bunch more sets w/ Guile. Def lovin him. I think he is upper mid if not tops in this game. He can zone and play a pressure/rush game due to his excellent normals. The total package. I love when a Rolento starts poking away with s.jab, shit is free to flash kicks, you just have to know when to throw it between jabs and he is done. Speaking of rolento I think we may see him die off as the game progresses, his whole game plan is pretty 1 dimensional.
ive only ever come across a few and also get bodied… the last time I lost because she KICKED a boom back at me… I was like - wait what!?
in terms of mixup heavy characters, I find Lili to be a real difficult matchup for Guile
Yeah, but wasn’t Rog a 1d character (sfiv) as well? he was still on top due to being a really solid character. I think even though Rolento is 1d, he’s still solid enough to keep his spot on top.

yea. this is the part i hate right now - not knowing how to deal with the new characters, especially the mixup heavy ones.
I dunno, was I too pessimistic about Guile’s anti airs? I’m not sure really. He has certain holes, but maybe he makes up for it in other places? I’ll have to play more… Ken’s hurricane kick is definitely a complete bitch though… that may have tainted my opinion since ken is pretty common. If ken tries to long distance air hurricane kick to get in, you can beat it with low strong fairly consistently. From mid range jump up strong or low fierce are alright. From close range nothing works against it, and I think it’s best to block honestly.
As far as option selects against backdashes go, if you’re next to your opponent you can do the low kick -> up back low kick option select, and what’s cool is that now you can combo off of the low kick -> stand low kick if it hits. Unfortunately this doesn’t work against really fast backdashes, and retartedly there are a ton of them in this game. Anyone have anything against fast backdashes like chun li, xiaoyu (or whatever her name is), or kazuya?
I didn’t know rolento was in sf4. How do you unlock him?!?!?!
also, Kazuya is free to rush downs, has no get the fuck off me move, you can pressure him for days.
