The Green Lantern and all related Corps. Thread

So Blake Lively (Gossip Girl) is set to play Carol Ferris in the new GL movie

cant say i like her but… it could be worse i guess.

Not her biggest fan either. But so long as she has on screen chemistry with Ryan Reynolds I’m all for it.

Peter Sarsgaard is set to play Hector Hammond…I’m still waiting on a Sinestro.

So Manhke(sp) draws Atrocitus better? I like both his and Ivan’s version, actually. And, yea, Atrocitus was Lantern of the issue #47.

And… Serena van der Woodsen as Carol Danvers?
Ehhh…

You mean Carol Ferris. If Serena ever puts on a Ms. Marvel outfit I will jump out a window!

Right, Ferris.
Christ, I’m fuckin’ up! -_-
But yea…Blake dying her hair brown or black…sigh they COULD just find a dark brunette or raven haired woman imo…Oh well.

Fuck yeah! Go back a few issues and look at the Ethan Van Sciver and/or Shane Davis version of him. Van Sciver actually gets the credit for creating him, but Davis did a fantastic job as well in ‘Rage of the Red Lanterns’. I love Ivan Reis, he’s been on GL for quite a while now, and he’s a very talented artist. However, dude cannot draw Atrocitus for shit, specifically his facial features. He gives him this beak-like nose and he draws the teeth as if Atrocitus were a baleen whale. Seriously, all he needs to do is study a decent reference for like 5 minutes.

 I’ll go back and read RofRL again. I don’t mind the different takes on Atro, he stills looks fearsome to me.

And, who’s read the latest GLC?

Hal is Parallax again? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Okay, GL #50 is where BN starts to officially suck for me.

First of all, like I’ve said before, I’m no fan of the Black Lantern Spectre. I was kind of hoping that they’d just quitely drop this and deal with him in some BN spin-off book, but alas I knew it was wishful thinking just from the way they introduced him. You’ve got a spiritual, wraith-like entity being controlled by something that needs an exhumed body to operate? This shit is plain dumb. It’d be different if the body of Crispus Allen was a Black Lantern, but no he has to have all the ridiculous powers of the Spectre as well. Not to mention the fact that, it was stated that the Spectre holds more power than the Guardians by himself. So, why in the fuck is he afraid of Parallax? I don’t know about you guys, but when I was reading the climax of GL: Rebirth, I took the Spectre leaving as a “Foolish mortals, I cannot be bothered by your paltry affairs!”, or even as a “Fuck this shit, you niggas got this!”, not “Oh snap, it’s Parallax!”.

Second, with all that has occured since the GL reboot concerning Hal’s redemption, the last thing Geoff Johns needed to do is combine Hal and Parallax again. I understand that Hal is a brash, daredevil who rarely thinks ahead, but this is ridiculous. It goes against all the remorse Hal has held in the past, and quite honestly it’s kind of like spitting in the face of his fans. This is a perfect example of going completely against a character’s personality just to advance a story. Hal is the type to leap in head first, but I think Johns has done a great job of showing his maturity in that area, prior to GL #50 of course. He can still be audacious without being a total idiot. A good example would be during the Sinestro War when Hal put on a fistful of yellow rings and tried to wield the power of fear. That was cool, it’s part of his character, he paid for it and learned from it. Not!

All those glaring issues aside, I’ve read this far, I might as well see this to the end.

Robert Knepper from Prison Break,Heroes & Transporter 3 would make a good Sinestro

I like Shane Davis’ version of Atrocitus even better.I wish he was the artist for Batman:Year One

Miore GL movie news…

Certainly a good choice IMO…I would’ve been more hype if CCH Pounder got the part.

HA! They have Pam Grier AKA Foxy Brown playing Amanda Waller on Smallville. :lovin:

Mazuchelli is one of the most underrated comic artists of all time. I couldn’t imagine anybody else drawing year one but him. WTF.
