The Greatest Videogame You've Ever Played

Nah, ADOM is the best roguelike.

Okay, let me rephrase that. Diablo is a hack n slash dungeon crawl where my character has no personality, where I cannot engage in dialogue, where I cannot affect the story or any of the characters surrounding me in any way possible, and where every playthrough is exactly identical to the previous one-thing.

And all this time we could have been talking about how Space Station Silicon Valley and Sin & Punishment are the secret best games on the N64 :frowning:

why is there any debate, the title is “The Greatest Videogame You’ve Ever Played” Stop buzzkilling people’s favorites.

Diablo has enough RPG elements to classify itself as an RPG.

Super Mario World was also super fun, its another game I like for it’s simplicity, it has a nice variety of levels, pretty graphics and the gameplay was just right. The only problem I have with is the fact that its a bit too easy, the cape is super overpowered, its basically SMB3’s tail with infinite flight, you could just fly through a lot of levels. The fire flower was almost completely outclassed by the cape unless it was a water level. Its still a good game though imo.

how I love the ignore button, fanboys have no reason, or logic.

I would also like to add Star Ocean: The Second Story. I love that game. Even today, even though I know how to get all super buff and busted right away, I still love it. Its my favorite jrpg.

P.S. I feel weird calling it “jrpg”, is that silly? Man, I use to just call’em rpg’s and action rpg’s.

Yup.

And I still think the perfect game is Yoshi’s Island.

The platforming is pretty much perfect, the pacing of the levels was spot on, the level designs were genius, from the obstacles, to enemy placement, to the special abilities, to the hidden items for completion. Even the bosses, while not difficult to beat, per se, were perfectly pitched, when taking into account netting 100% stage completion (which basically required not getting hit even once).

Four words can sum up both the perfection of that game, and how I feel about the perfection of that game:

Touch Fuzzy, Get Dizzy.

I loved Final Fantasy VII as a kid when that came out. It was my first rpg because that commercial worked on me. Now though I only feel that it is ok and I really like IX for the story and characters and X for the system. My favorite JRPG series though is Suikoden.

RELEASE SUIKODEN II ON PSN KONAMI WTF

The greatest video games of all time are Metal Gear Solid 3 and Red Dead Redemption. Yes they have their flaws but as storytelling experiences they cannot be beat.

I mean he was fun to ride, but I prefer more powerups. Give me broken shit like hammer suit, and dat P wing

you have to remember to mario 3 was perfect game, and had more levels then super mario world and more power ups.

Yes.

What? :wow: But…but you get to establish social links and, and those make better personas too! And you get to make friends…and date cute girls! And Liz, she’s the best ever! And karaoke! And, full moon levels! I got to fight monsters on a monorail!

Okay okay seriously, I actually like the change of pace in P3 because you actually have to do stuff like in real life, different from the norm of other RPGs I’ve played. Only saw discussion and vids of P4; looks about the same but I hear the overall story is much better in comparison.

Concerning Super Mario World, great game when I first played it, but it didn’t age well for me as I got older. Most of it feels bland on replay, Koppaling battles are just variations of themselves and the soundtrack is the biggest drawback. Every stage of game play uses the same melody with a different arrangement and tempo each time; plain lazy if you ask me. Decent game, just not monumental like other Mario games.

Xenogears. A shame the end was rushed because that game had the deepest storyline I’ve ever seen in an RPG.
