Final Fantasy X is NOT a bad game. It’s not even a weak game. It has a rather well developed back story and mythology. The characters are sometimes annoying and the VA is horrendous at times, but I’d still take experiencing that full story over most the shit put out today. It was probably the last great story Square made. I think, like FF7, it’s popular enough to hate on. The richness of the religious aspects and back story of that religion is rather interesting actually. The fact that you can spend the game seeking out that information and deciphering the history behind the mythos of the game is a nice touch.
More people would play pure ST on GGPO if they could get the matches to connect. That shit really needs to be updated to genuine PnP.
FFX was either the second or third worst game in the whole 25 year series. Thankfully they soon got back on track with X-2.
MGS1 DESTROYS (AND NOT THAT FAGGOTY TWIN SNAKES SHIT EITHER)
FUCK MGS3, WHACK ASS LINEAR STORY. MGS1 FUCKED MY MIND AND LEFT IT BLEEDING WHILE ALSO HAVING EPIC BOSS FIGHTS, HOT BITCHES, A MAIN PROTAGONIST ON A BATMAN-LEVEL OF SWAG, AND KICKASS ARTWORK

I measuring in terms of fun… and using cheat codes
007-cheats-fun
Turok -cheats
DDR-everyone who hates it hasn’t tried or got made fun of for being bad (its the case for many games)
MvC2/CvS2/
SSBM-Melee—played for a week straight by myself, lol.
Warcraft 2- Cheats
Wc3- campaign was cool, online was cool, gave us dota. (can I has a dota 2 key?lol)
Unreal Tournament- Awesome and I loved the Custom skins
-CS… many incarnations but stays true
I also liked crackdown, the achievements made it fun.
Raiden fighter aces… lol
I like games…
AREA 51! man I miss arcades (especially the ones that got new games )
The Portal Games! Those games are so damn funny!
FFX was pretty good actually from a game design point of view. Much better than the travesty that is FFVIII, FFXII/XIII and even FFV. Only reason why some hated the game is because the way levels were designed didn’t leave much freedom of exploration like the old FFs. And of course, some of the voice acting was pretty hilarious. But to me that’s a plus lol, not something negative. Always love a good laugh when I play these types of games.
The best finals for me are FFVI, FFIX, FFVII, FFX and FFIV in that order.
btw you guys should play Star Ocean: The Last Hope and Infinite Undiscovery if you enjoy horrible voice acting, those games are hilarious and have some of the most annoying characters in the history of gaming. The games are pretty fun though. Solid battle system for action-rpg.
Every FF game that came after FFX (including X-2) is worse than it, and some that came before it are worse than it. I would probably put it in the top 5 of FF games. 6, 4, & 7 are clearly better than it, but the rest is debatable…
… No words… No fucking words. No, none at all.
Also, MvC2 = best. I agree with NickGuy, as he’s my based god and I worship his toenail scums.
Story wise I have to say X > X-2 but gameplay wise X-2 > X
Same with 12.
12 has no cohesive story, it’s a mess. To me, the two major factors in an RPG are story and system. The system in FFX is simple, but effective. X-2 is just a modified version of the job system from 5. The story in X-2 is shit. They took everything good about X, the idea of sacrifice for the greater good and gave us a happy ending. the bittersweet ending of X was perfect for the mood of the story. To me, they shit on that with X-2. I think the way they fucked the ending of X with X-2 put a really bad taste in my mouth. I do like teh job system though because it provide plenty of room for grinding, but short of the joy of maxing out jobs, there isn’t much to X-2 IMO.
Persona 4
Uncharted 2
Mass Effect 2
Resident Evil 4
Chrono Trigger
Xenoblade Chronicles
Yeah 12 was definitely my least favorite out of the entire series. X had better story/music/characters. X-2 had better system/non-linearity/mini-games/new game +. I think that because of that, X-2 has more replay, though X is more enjoyable the first time you’re playing through the game.
Also don’t forget FF IV: After Years. That game was awesome.
I really appreciate angryliberal making great posts. I can just click “like” and feel content.
FFV, VIII & IX totally blow FFX away, and are full of absolutely classic artwork and gameplay elements, yet you don’t even mention them. As pointed out above, X-2 played really well, and still looks great. What more do you want? Literally a cool story? Go watch The Usual Suspects or read some Saul Bellow, cuz you won’t find it in the tenth and tired series of a translated foreign videogame narrated by cut-price voice actors.
In no way do I agree 8 blows X away. 8 was interesting, but not great and the system was shit. 9 MAY be better, but the story in it just takes forever to get into. I played about 10-12 hours of it and the story still did not get interesting. This leave 5, and it has the same problem as 9, the story just isn’t interesting enough to keep playing.
Now to address your completely pointless comment about reading or watching a movie. Are either of those things interactive with goal based tasks I must complete? No? OK, then they aren’t comparable. I play a video game because I want to play a video game, but I also would like a story that is compelling and interesting. The only weak part of X was it’s VA, and even that I can deal with. You know why? It’s fun to play and the story stays interesting for the entire time. Also, it has a cohesive story, that stays true to it’s bend the entire time.
D3D’s first episode was so amazing, there was just so much to explore and all the little things they added made it even more enjoyable, like a pool table, a soda machine, hell you could even piss in that game…LOL
Heretic/Hexen was a nice take on the doom engine, I like how it was a dark medieval fantasy version of doom with a lot of need items. Hexen was my First FPS game and I enjoyed it, my brother somehow beat it without using a guide. I use to always get lost and I found myself running around in circles all the time, that shit drove me nuts, the music also scared me as a kid. It was through that game that I discovered the masterpiece known as Doom, specs pretty much sums the game up nicely in his post.
Thank The Great Whatever that shit is not contagious through electronic text.

Final Fantasy 8 made me want to cut my dick off and be a pansy.
Final Fantasy 9 is my most beloved FF game.
Final Fantasy 5 was one of my favorites because of the job system, since it was so unique, but the rest of the game sucked my left nut.
I’m standing by saying, 6&9 > 7 > X > 4 > 2 > the rest.
8’s junction system is amazing it’s like using gameshark without actually using it. Except the draw cmd what a useless waste of space.
8’s system AND characters blow.
And its reveals leave weeping tooth gouges all over its story.
9 would have been better served as a 2D affair, the story took a long time to build up, and the reveals, when it gets there, while not as bad as 8’s, are still sub par.
The system and characters are excellent though.
So I hold out that it is debatably tied with 10.
5… had a story?
5’s story: Loner meets up with two princesses and an off-world king. They kill monsters, get jobs. Meteors. They go to the king’s world, kill monsters, get jobs. King dies. His granddaughter joins the Loner’s harem - gets g-dad’s jobs. They kill more monsters, get more jobs. Repeat until game boss.
Jobs were fun, though.
