Wow…I am so interested in the Popeye strip now O_O.
Uncanny X-Men #423-424 (Chuck Austen, can’t be topped)
Youngblood (before Alan Moore)
Ultimates Volume 3
X-Treme X-Men (all of it)
Batman RIP
Spider-Man 3 (not really a comic, but whatever)
SHIT BE POPPIN’
Ultimates vol 3 as in…?
The ultimates volume that doesn’t exist or do you mean bad bad ultimates 3 by super baddy bad loeb?
Yeah he’s talking about the one written by Jeph Loeb. Which also doesn’t exist. WORK WITH ME HERE! :looney:
Loved Joe Mad’s pencils, that’s about it. Loeb should never work without Tim Sale ever, anything he ever did without Tim Sale is suspect. DC please take Loeb back, I’ll be your best friend.
One of the things is not like the other, one of these things is actually good.
Thats the only thing that stood out on that list for you? :wow:
you left out origin clint
No I was just confused by the vol 3 part haha
But sano basically got it right
Actually, I consider Ultimates Volume 1 and 2 to be right there with 3 too.
Volume 1 started off a bit un-3-like…but then as it got going, it really grew into the book that would finally be realized by the time Volume 3 hit.
Yeah, I know - I already said that Spider-Man 3 wasn’t a comic, it was a movie, okay, I get it.
I don’t remember bolding Batman RIP though, that was kind of strange - the quote function’s a bit wacky, I guess.
Origin never happened, I left out nothing.
Ultimates Vol. 3 is an artbook, not a comic book, you are delusional Linty.
tough call
i’ve always been a marvel follower , but i’ve read my fair share of DC comics too …ill try to list some of my favorite books and why. Earlier i followed Amazing Spider Man pretty closely ,but now im more and more of an x-men guy and i think the hottest thing within comics right now is the X-Force / Cable : Messiah War crossover
DC
Kingdom Come (the art !!! , good story)
Crisis on Infinite Earth (this crossover was great probably the first crossover i read !)
Superman/ Batman (not the series as a whole , but some issues are among my favorite DC comic books)
**Marvel **
Ultimates (took comic book storytelling to another level for me , dark - mature and very captivating)
Astonishing X-Men ( even better than the ultimates , Whedon got me hooked on this book !!!)
Spider-Man : The Clone Saga (might be a bit nostalgic , but i really liked this one when i was reading it)
Amazing & Spectacular Spider-Man (the Mark Bagley , Mackie & Lyle , John Romita jr. Sal Buschema years …ok so i really didt like Sal Buschema at first but he came around and got to a point where i thought he was ok on his spectacular spiderman years)
Uncanny X-Men / X-men books ( had its ups and downs but some story arcs have been great I havent followed anything other than Uncanny , xept on crossovers like Messiah Complex , Age of Apocalypse , Onslaught Saga
Err, what? Batman: Hush?
What?
…what are you trying to say?
Also, please add Superman/Batman and the Spider-Man Clone Saga to my list, those were totally boss as well.
And let’s throw in Here Comes Tomorrow (the last New X-Men arc with Marc Silvestri), House of M, and the OMAC miniseries on there.
Also, all of Spawn.
Can’t get enough of any of those stories.
SPAWN IS BOSS
“WWWWWWAAAAAAANNNNNNNNDDDDAAAAAA"
no progress in story whatsoever
"WWWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAANNNNNNNNDDAAA!!!”
my list that poppin to my head at the moment
All Star Superman
CRIMINAAAAAALLLL!!!
FAAAAAABLES!!!
JMS’ THOOOOOOOORRRRR!!!
CRIMINAAAALLLLLL
Astonishing X men
BRU’s Captain america+Daredevil: Devil in cell block D
CRIMINALLLLLLLLLLLL
Green lantern- SCW and everything after that
Exactly. Can’t say I’m the biggest fan of Hush. There are lots of reasons but the main one being that it lead to Jason Todd’s rebirth or created the excuse DC needed to haul him back. Thanks a lot. :bluu:
Hey I liked Jim Lee’s pencils. Another art book for me. If the story was just an excuse to get Jim Lee to draw every person in the Bat Universe then I guess it’s not the worst thing in the world.
Loeb’s Buffy Season 8 issue was really good for some odd reason. I guess because it was Buffy, Loeb had to actually watch the TV show because trust me a lot of the times he doesn’t read comics of characters he’s writing… Why should he bother with that? :wonder:
Maybe with Joss Whedon at the helm of Buffy he was able to get something good out of him? Whedon’s too broken. I bet if Liefeld drew for him it would somehow look good…
That doesn’t compute.
He wrote for Heroes and clearly didn’t watch that show.
Lol does anyone who writes for Heroes actually watch it? The future is messed up and they have to save it, AGAIN! The good guys become evil in the future, AGAIN! They’ve only done that, all 3 seasons it’s been on! Say maybe they do watch the show and just pretend no one else does so they can keep telling us the same story over and over again! :looney:
Seriously, not knowing what the deal was about Counter-Earth was when asked about it even though his Onslaught Reborn story was a follow up to Heroes Reborn, not knowing who was and wasn’t depowered after House of M during his Wolverine run, Ultimates 3’s entire existence, OH J. LOEB…
game, set, match.
I’ll just throw out a few unappreaciated gems in the form of…
Cable/Deadpool: Particularly issues 7-18 although most of the series really good entertainment. Deadpool fans will love it and despite having Cable on and off for most of the series (editorial mandates kept kicking his actually ongoing story arc in the nads) it was a probably one of the nicest developed Cables for fans wanting more then him with big guns. Although he still had plenty of those. Anyway, even if you just know the basics of the characters, the arcs in those issues more then likely would make you a fan of them.
Black Panther (Vol. 2 aka Priest’s run): Simply put, it was mana from heaven. At times, it went gritty, at times super hero punchy and at times scifi bonkers Fantastic Four style, but no matter what it did, it was always bad ass. If Pre-Final Crisis Grant Morrison’s Batman is meant to be the prep-time god, then Priest’s Black Panther is the prep-time Jesus who occassionally also does the prep-time Holy Spirit duties when bored. If you can find the issues, you’ll see it unfold for yourself.
Sleeper: Brubaker at some of his finest. Story so damn good it makes you sick, not “Ew gross” sick but “Mind blowing sex with your dream significant other, while watch your favorite TV show or movie, while eating your favorite hamburger/sandwich/finger food right after beating someone you respect in your favorite fighting game all within 30 minutes” sick.
That’s about all I got for now, I got that fool Tao on brain.
