Play CF.
Characters get up to 3 Arcade Modes an they all tie in with the Story.
Either set ups or filler of what happend.
Will be hard to believe when you played trough the first 2 Runs, but then you remember what happend in the Main Story and it makes sense again.
To complicated really, but at least it’s canon.

That’s a lot of stuff to go through.
Story mode does a decent job of covering most of the stuff that happens in them tho, devs probably knew that once the console version dropped, a lot of people wouldn’t want to do all that.
It was great and a lot of content too, especially for people like me that actually kept up with the arcade releases as they were released in Japan.
For those out of the loop, CF had 3 arcade acts that cover roughly half of the story mode. They were released in certain time periods by updates, so the content was neatly split instead of being overwhelming.
The console release included all of them and story mode retreated these three arcs in a shorter, more in-depth version before continuing the story.
BBCF literally has dozens of hours of story content. More than not only any other FG I’ve seen but even more than a lot of games from other genres.
No wonder it has a large casual playerbase in Japan.

Yes, but there are two versions. Gestalt and replicant. They have different main characters.
Gestalt is widely preferred everywhere outside of Japan. I am in that camp, old grumpy dad is a wildly better main character than anime boy #476. They are remastering replicant because Japan.
Also as a warning, nier 1… good ideas, very poor execution. I honestly can’t recommend it to everyone.
Another thing, it is almost nothing like automata.

There’s already a shit ton of games being remastered/remade these days. Got a PS Plus reminder to download my free games and ended up getting Shadow of the Colossus remastered. Added it to the library for a later date.
