I dunno…I’m still laughing about the whole thing.
Gootecks’ appearance in I got next, is a great part of how I got into the FGC! He has been a great spokes person for the community, and done a lot of work I won’t forget! I listened to all of his podcasts, and have been watching his stuff since forever! Hope he won’t disappear from the FGC, because it benefits from his presence! Much love!
I never knew about this whole fgc community until I watched the excellent adventures. Damn he say any particular reason in leaving? I don’t watch the cc live.
Thanks for everything Gootecks. Hope you are able to come back whenever you’re ready.
I remember listening to his street fighter podcast right before SF4 came out. Those were what really got me into the scene. Thank you Gootecks and good luck with whatever you choose to pursue.
Hope he actually did leave on his own terms instead of drama. Either way Gootecks was a great guy and served as a great ambassador to the FGC stream
Sad to see him go
Think we all need to go on a gamer nature quest ,pick a shitty MMO and be a shitty character for a few years…Like rockafeller did , I chose dcuniverse on ps3 and im a controller…i think thats equal to rocks Nome in warcraft or whatver the fuck he spent the last few years,Gootecks will hit league of legends and be back in 3 years
Gootecks, thank you for all the work you did for the 3rd Strike scene back in the day… I remember looking forward to your pod casts of you interviewing the great Socal 3S players (Pyro, 5 Star, etc) and you had that website that helped many level up their 3S game back in the day. Thank you for CC. Thank you for all the work you have done and for giving SO much of yourself to the scene, a scene that has lost its fucking soul.
Looking forward to your next project whatever that may be in whatever area you decide… we’ll be there to support you.
Gooteck’s, leader of the Balrog Army and the guy who made a lot of those first steps into other forms of media for fighting games with podcasts. His time diminished as a player, but he used his experience and connections in the FGC to help grow it. I don’t think we would be where we are without Gootecks making big strides for us.
Met him at last evo. Dude stopped to talk to everyone who came to him and ALWAYS had a smile.
Cant say that about some of the others.
Goodbye Gootecks, the FGC just wont be the same without you.
I love Gootecks, but If John D takes his place in CC that would be godlike :lovin:
In all seriousness
Im pretty sure that there’s something bigger than him going on. I dont think he would quit just like that.
Much respect for him, and I wish the best.
Im sure he’ll be back soon enough.
Let this be a lesson to everyone, don’t do drugs.
everybody calm the fuck down xD the man ain’t dead xD
He’ll be back. They always come back.
Thanks for being a part of the SoCal 3s scene that got me started playing games that weren’t Mortal Kombat. Peace, bruh
as much foolish drama their was between me and ryan i just wanted to make it public that i respect alot of the things he did to make street fighter that much more hype. i might not agree with all the ways you went about things bro, but ill be damned if all of us didnt recognize your hard work and efforts to make fighting games interesting and marketable for the those outside of srk. hope all works out for you and see you around bro.
Gootecks, I’ve been following your exploits ever since you were an up and comer down at the Family Fun 3rd Strike ranbats, eventually skyrocketing to a big deal in SF4, both as a competitor and behind the scenes. I must admit I have a lot of respect for you. You’re a great Street Fighter player and one of the major torchbearers during the revival of the fighting game scene as a whole. Over time, you eventually became more of an internet personality than a fighting game competitor, but to me you’ll always be Mr. Headbutt~Throw.
Stay solid.
my first experience with the FGC came in 09 when I just purchased SF4 and was trying to find out what tournament players were doing. I stumbled on gootecks.com where I saw players like Ed Ma, Combofiend, Ken I, Valle, and of course Gootecks himself. I thought it was pretty cool and I got into watching the tournaments. I stopped playing for about a year and half until last February where I was interested in seeing what happened to gootecks and gootecks.com. Was it still around? Did it get bigger?
To my surprise gootecks.com told me to visit crosscounter.tv (whatever that was). I visited the site and found an interesting show called “Excellent Adventures”. I LOL’d until I hurt, I must have watched every episode in only a week. Naturally, I got hooked back into the scene and slowly I started up w/ street fighter again.
My story is probably like many 09’rs/ other stream monsters. We all started with Gootecks.com, and for this I have to thank Ryan Gutierrez for giving me so much entertainment throughout the years. You will truly be missed, you are an innovator and a Pioneer of the FGC. Although I will beg and plead for you to come back to the FGC I do wish you luck in your future endeavors. I am certain you will prosper in whatever you do
PogChamp!
