Truly an inpsiration in my life
I remember the Street Fighter Podcast back during the start of the SF4 and the 3rd Strikes Player Guide to SF4.
Thanks for those.
On a more serious note I remember that crusty old video I saw on here years ago with him and Mike Ross in someone’s mom’s basement of all things and there was a table made out of plywood or something.
The room was echoing and everything. It was still sweet to see that other people were interested in fighting games on that level. If anyone can find a link in an archive or it would be pretty sweet to see in here or upload to youtube again.
GOOOTECKKSS NOOOOOOO
Cross counter will never be as good and when you and mike ross first started + excellent adventures.
Barfights is the reason I got into fighting games sad to see him go .
Gootecks embarked on another excellent adventure. You are an inspiration to us all and your laughter shall echo in the halls of shoryuken like the loudest of thunders.
But go back soon! Mike Ross’ll be like an abandoned puppy without his companion.
without cross counter i would never have stuck with FGs (while i was getting battered online)
i haven’t watched the CC live episode yet but am pretty saddened by this news, although im not suprised, the community lately has been way too unfair on both mike and ryan. they were just doing their jobs, creating hype, creating interest, and being as entertaining as hell.
hopefully people will realise what he has done for this community now he has dropped off the map for a bit.
Dr.SubZero being the new host for CC live would help ease the pain though.
The first time ive been exposed to Gootecks or the FGC was when I saw “I Got Next” and it opened my eyes to how awesome the community is, and Gootecks has done alot for the community to try to make it mainstream and reach out to people tryin to be part of the fgc. Cross Counter wont be the same without gootecks on it, the duo of Mike and Gootecks was awesome, and theyre vids always pumped me up, and Bar Fights was amazing, wish Gootecks luck on w.e he does
Here’s hoping he’ll come back…
Man, its just not gonna be the same. He pushed the scene farther than anybody else.
Get in there Gootecks.
Get in there.
goosecks
Gootecks, You and all the other FFA dudes are the reason I play fighting games. Your guys’ tourney vids changed my life. You, Frankie3s, J.R. Rodriguez, all you guys… I hope you stick around, even if it’s just playing some 3s here or there.
I would never think I would get this depressed of somethint that happens far away from me in another country. But it sure did. Gootecks (together with Mike Ross) was the reason why I started playing SF4 and the reason why I started using Balrog. Good Luck Gootecks!
I’ve been a SF player since 92, but have never been apart of the FGC. I flirted with the idea when I saw the Daigo comeback video but still I never made a effort to join my local community nor did I ever attempt to learn if it existed. SF4 comes out, I get it and slowly I really start liking it. I’m hungry for more information and I come across Gooteck’s website. I listen to some podcast and learn about SF4 SBO qualifiers, this changed everything for me.
Yes I’ve seen several matches on Youtube, but nothing had the same impact on me as watching a live tournament could. This was the first time I was exposed to so many players such as LI Joe, Sabin, Combofiend, Ed Ma, Ken I and so on. I still have many favorite moments from that stream such as “I believe in Mike Ross”, air EX tatsu into demon, Gootecks starving for food and someone buying him tacos, Combofiends comeback against Ken I in GF, and finally they managed to hit 1000 viewers during GF which at the time was such a huge accomplishment.
Although I may have gotten into the FGC one way or another, I can’t deny that he played a pivotal role in me wanting to become apart of it and I’m thankful for that.
respect and im a lil butt hurt , but i know he will prosper in other endeavors
I endorse this thread wholeheartedly. Him and Mike Ross was probably the reason I started following the FGC.
Dito, thanks for the fun times, Big Goo!
You’ll be sorely missed. Heck, already are.
