The public and the media were denied access to the footage for a little over twelve months. The Chicago Police Department stated FOIA requests were denied because of “ongoing investigations.” One reporter claimed that footage was barred from being released for “political and PR reasons.” The judge ordered that the footage must be released by Wednesday.

According to the victim’s attorney, the video of the shooting contradicts the CPD’s account of what actually took place.

It might get a little noisy in Chicago on Wednesday.

Yeah, people are worried about possible rioting.
The people who saw the tape (victims family and community leaders) say it isn’t pretty. The cop shot him and he feel to the ground. Then he keep unloading more bullets into him
People should be upset.

Chicago is so fukt.

The CPD officer has been charged with first degree murder. The city prosecutor better not fuck up this case.

The video has been released…fast forward to about 5:00. That’s when the incident happens

Notice that after he falls down, you keep seeing randoms clouds of dust appear above his body

The cop shot him 16 times.

I have a question. Why are these videos released to the public? This is at its core the most violent raw graphic things you can show on television and they are placed on news websites be shown on the nightly news. It’s almost like the public is numb to dead black bodies.

I don’t like it. I could be wrong, but the officer was charged today, why let the public have the video.

Maybe the tape is needed to push for prosecution, maybe not, I know if it was someone related to me I wouldn’t want their last moments spent on this earth broadcast for the world to see. I don’t see this as a Emmit Till thing.

The tape was released because a journalist filed a freedom of information request a year ago, after the incident occurred.

But I believe the tape would of been released anyway for transparency reasons (a burger king across the street that had another view of the incident had it’s footage deleted by the CPD) . The local community was hot over this already

The family didn’t want the tape released for obvious reasons.

It’s public information and vital to public interest. All tapes taken by police should be open to the public whether they make you uncomfortable or not.

My comfort has nothing to do with it, I’ve seen worse. My issue is the constant bombardment and the seemingly lack of censorship when it comes to particularly black bodies. There is a dehumanizing essence to me at least. In this particular case the DA was already in the process or prosecution, said process was sped up to try and beat the release of the tape. All the tape showed me is that there are cops who have a complete disregard for black bodies. I didn’t need a tape to tell me that and I don’t care how many of these tapes surface that truth will never be evident in this country.

In my opinion there wasn’t anything vital in that tape that everyone had to see.

Dude orobably will get if, because da went for first degree murder. He is reaching by thinking a jury will be unanimous in that sentencing.

Man just lay on the ground

You see white cops guns drawn?

Just flair flop

The problem is now they sat on this for a YEAR and NOW they wanna PROSECUTE now that the PUBLIC can see what went down. That doesn’t make the department look good at all. They should be pulling for the chief and everyone involved to step down

That is disgusting to watch.

American cops are on terrorist/sociopath levels of disregard for human life.

It was recorded by the CPD. That footage is automatically public information. The public and media are free to file Freedom of Information Act requests to retrieve such information or footage. The CPD held on to that footage for more than a year and refused to release it to the public.

Maybe its me, but it looked the driver who’s vehicle recorded the shooting tried to negative edge the dash cam so you couldn’t actually see the officer shooting the kid. Before the vehicle stops, you can see the officer with his gun drawn approaching the victim but as the vehicle slowly comes to a halt it quickly veers to the right around 5:32 so that you only see the kid. Once the kid goes down from the first or second shot, the officer firing the shots is completely cut out of view. A few more meters and you wouldn’t have even seen the kid being shot.

That or he was trying to prevent him from running away.

How Chicago tried to cover up a police execution - http://chicagoreporter.com/how-chicago-tried-to-cover-up-a-police-execution/

Everybody hates fat cops

The most legit law enforcement officials are co’s because they have to use their words and authority to shut down crooks.

Certain police think they are judge dredd

WOW, thats wild. I was new to this case, and didnt read much, but i was like wait what, they sat on this for a year. Thats some delicious top down corruption there. Dash cam evidence, autopsy evidence, deleted footage from a local burger king, and witnesses turned away, but it took a whistleblower and journalist to get you to come clean.

I mean, i know illinois is a corrupt as fuck state, and chicago is one of the most corrupt cities in america, but god damn. Youre only adding fuel to a fire you dont want to deal with by trying to cover up shit like this. Now when some GD’s start running up on cops and blasting them in the face the next few weeks, youre going to be crying bloody murder for the protection of our police officers, meanwhile you do nothing to protect its citizens.

America loves taking twice as many steps backwards as it takes forward any chance it can get.

The most retarded part is, why even try to cover up something that someone can easily just request information about. Usually a cover up involves tracing your tracks and deleting all of them, from the autopsy report, to the dash cam footage, everything. This isnt even like a cover up. I dont know what to call it, its so stupid.

Cops: Guys, they will never catch me. I gave them a fake story.

(Whistleblower comes forward)

Journalist: Hi, id like all the info about mcdonalds murder.

(Couple hurdles later)

Cops: Oh darn, they caught us.

lol. The balls to shoot a teenager 16 times, delete the burger king footage, and lie about how the events unfolded, but not be trying to flee the country before you end up in court, is astonishing. Thats how you know how corrupt law enforcement is. They dont even think to flee when theyre in the wrong. Theyre just like nah, im good.
