Damn, these two enchilada cops shot this guy while he was standing still with his hands up, and he had his hands up for a few seconds before getting shot. Apparently they allegedly tazed him, and that didnt stop him. They were called for a domestic dispute. So i guess they figured, well, he finally stopped, and tazers didnt work before, lets jut shoot him real quick while hes stopped with his hands up, that way we can ensure he stops. Jesus christ, murica.
It’s pretty hard to tell what’s going on in that video, but after watching the moment where he gets shot (multiple times to clarify), it appears he goes for his waistband/reaches for something/makes a sudden movement AND THEN gets shot. If you watch carefully it (the video in the gawker link), there’s about a half second delay from which it looks like he makes a sudden movement and the sound of gunfire, as if the police are reacting to him making a movement rather than just shooting him for no reason. Still, not much is known and we need more info.

That being said you weren’t even a member at this site back then, so how would you know what the opinion of cops were back on GD in the year 2000? Or did you mean 09’s? In which case, opinions change. Just going on u2b you’ll see thousands of videos of Police overstepping their bounds against innocent civilians. That still isn’t a good projection on all cops. Assuming that all cops are bad cops, is like assuming that all blacks are thugs and are up to no good. Neither is true and is just a lazy generalization based on the bad ones.

You are right, I was on here around 2005-6 iirc not the 90’s. I was a lurker and I ventured into one of these cop threads back then. I didn’t say all cops are bad cops, that’s your own projections of what you think. I clearly said that the perception of cops on SRK has changed completely. Back then everyone would white knight cops regardless of facts.

Misconceptions, history, anger, and increased awareness due to social media from every side is really the issue.
Police brutality involving blacks has been around since… well… forever. Whites have had and abused the power of law enforcement for their racially biased agenda for many decades. It’s that history that continues to fuel mistrust for law enforcement in black communities.
Maybe things have gotten better since then, but by how much? How many officers have recently shot/killed black people due to racial bias instead of, say, intense psychological fear that didn’t pop-up during psych evals? How many were trigger-happy assholes who went on a power-trip, or sociopaths in general who like to abuse their power on anyone they don’t like?
Racial bias may not be the issue in these incidents, maybe all the other factors mentioned is the main problem. But does anyone know that for sure? Does anybody know these particular officers’ true individual reasons for killing? Even within those factors racial bias can still play a heavy role. “I don’t like him because he’s black”, or “I’m really scared because he’s black” is a sad disappointment.

This lady was arrested in nyc for dancing to music at a stop light. They impounded her car, and told her to pick it up the next day. She comes back to pick it up the next day, and then they stick her in a psych ward for 8 days.
