Ya, we will see how this pans out. I wish there was video leading up to what severed his spine that bad. I read it was 80 percent severed. So they must have slammed the shit out of him, and he wasnt a big dude, so easier to break.
Seems the arrest should be on tape. So we’ll see when they release that. He was apparently stopped for fleeing from cops unprovoked. So allegedly he saw cops, and took of running. All he had on him was a pocket knife clipped to his pocket and thats it, no guns, no drugs. So i dont know what prompted them to hawk down a random and do that to him with no probably cause.
I’m more frustrated it took us all this long in this country to even get to this stage of transparency, that was only created by technology, not by good cops, good judges, honest prosecutors, etc…, but this is one of the dumbest countries on the planet, and for how diverse it is, still fairly racist and prejudice at its core, even after enduring our history with it.
Unrelated, but this is why i dont run anywhere if i dont have to. I dont want some honky with a gun, or just some snitch, getting me yanked up because they think im running from a crime if im not running with headphones on, running shorts, and running shoes. “Whys that nigga running. GET HIS ASS”. Someone told a story about that happening to them in nypd. They were running and got stopped and frisked because they looked suspicious running, when they were just trying to catch their train. Maybe it was epidemic
Stuff like that should be handled at the city and or state level first before the government gets involved.
The government should always get involved in cases like the death of Freddie Gray.
If that officer is a federal agent, an incident like that where the victim may have had her constitutional rights violated should still be handled on the city and state level first. His superiors should review and investigate the incident because violating constitutional rights is a serious business.
It’s sad to see public servants like that officer become so scared of being held accountable for his actions that he had to destroy someone’s personal property.
Call me naive and pessimistic as fuck but I think you guys can just write off this generation of law enforcement and just hope that there is some good morally adjusted guys coming in to the next shift so this shit gets stamped out eventually. Ie with proper training and leadership. I dunno how you gonna get country hicks and good ole boys to embrace some common decent courtesy and professionalism but that shit in NYPD shouldnt be going on these days.
The way I see it, currently there seems to be a lot of wrong guys in the job, you also got a lot of dumb people fucking up and to an extent getting what they deserve. Also you got the law getting no respect, getting fucked over by the media where 99% of attention is when they fuck up and maybe 1% when they actually do something good. How you limit police brutality without sticking a camera in their faces? Dont provoke em for a start? Hell even Chris Rock did a skit on the basics. The way I see it you guys are dealing with institutionalised racism endemic at a national level and corruption probably just as bad. The only way your fixing this is time, 50 years from now hell it might be Latino cops thuggin on white folk and the dymanic doesnt change it just flips lol. Unless the guys who are doing the job are doing it right and leading by example then nothing will change, the current leadership got their stripes during the 80s? Learned from guys who did their bit in the 60s? You know what kinda lessons these fuckers learned common now. Civilians policing the police force? Yea ok there is civilian oversight on everything but when people off the street are pissing off cops citing their rights that doesnt make a cop go “oh shit ok sir I will change”.
Time and the right people at grass roots level is the only cure to this, everything else is abrasive and will cause more damage than good. Look at the numbers, how many arrests nationally per day results in a brutality case? Does it even make 1%? Too much attention on the bullshit, sure a big fucking problem still but the way it gets fixed isnt allowing anybody to do wtf they want, it takes a concerted effort from the inside. Niggas tryn to cure a cold with surgery smdh. I get some of you guys might be more sensitive to cops fucking up, but you just gotta wait, or step up join the force and do it yourself.
If I was going to record a cop I would pretend to text on my phone and not say shit. No reason to draw attention to myself or escalate the situation. I think that is one thing US citizens (especially white ones) never seem to realize, you really shouldn’t be antagonizing someone with that kind of power to be more aggressive. I don’t want to push the limits because I’m a man, and I don’t want a beat down from a group of cops that badly.
So apparently the below is a thing (and a possible reason how in baltimore that guy had 80 percent of his spine severed), where they handcuff people, put them in the police van, and then let them bounce around injuring themselves, as they take them to a hospital or to jail.
