Their “excuse” was that his body had tensed up.
Everyone is going to tense up if you handcuff them then force them into the ground
That Police Dept has a history if using neck restraints, 44 people in 2020 alone. And they did this to a man for writing a bad check.
The man complained about not being able to breathe and bystanders pleaded with cops to stop.
Blocking a firetruck from getting to a fire. Police chief mentioned that a lot of peaceful protesters are leaving once the violence starts. Which means that there is a concentrated group of cunts going extra wild.
I’m all for protesting. But man I don’t understand how blocking roads and damaging property is supposed to help the cause. You mainly end up hurting regular people who have nothing to do with it and also risk bringing harm to yourself and others.
Damnit Las Vegas. Both sides seemed to be handing everything pretty well until last night. And the casinos are set to open up in a few days… I dunno wtf that’s going to look like amid all of this.
Lot of these local business owners sayin racist stuff on FB, we’re immediately canceling them. One is groveling now trynna explain himself, too late, fam. And he’s located firmly in a black neighborhood too, not a wise choice
Qualified immunity is a problem. But dont take it from me, take it from Justice Sotomayor.
"[T]his Court routinely displays an unflinching willingness ‘to summarily reverse courts for wrongly denying officers the protection of qualified immunity’ but ‘rarely intervene[s] where courts wrongly afford officers the benefit of qualified immunity in these same cases.’ . . . Such a one-sided approach to qualified immunity transforms the doctrine into an absolute shield for law enforcement officers, gutting the deterrent effect of the Fourth Amendment.
The majority today exacerbates that troubling asymmetry. Its decision is not just wrong on the law; it also sends an alarming signal to law enforcement officers and the public. It tells officers that they can shoot first and think later, and it tells the public that palpably unreasonable conduct will go unpunished. Because there is nothing right or just under the law about this, I respectfully dissent."
Justice Sotomayor dissenting in Kisela v. Hughees, 138 S. Ct. 1148 (2018)
Im a bit conflicted on this topic in that i think i understand both sides. The people that are strongly opposed to riots and the people who genuinely feel this is necessary action.
I lean more towards promotion of peaceful protest, but what are you supposed to do when the peaceful end doesn’t produce results?
I also understand that there is an anti government/anti establishment anarchist type group who are using the generally peaceful masses as a weapon, and the situation as an opportunity to wield it. And I agree with them in principle, that the system is all kinds of fucked up, but I’m put off by the sneaky nature of what they are doing by using the crowds.
It’s a strange place for me to be internally because i feel like my moral compass is spinning in circles.
Like I’ve said before, I just really hope this produces something tangible even if it’s as simple as spurring major political involvement.
